My primary point was that it would be very easy for players in a building game to have large amounts of data because most of these games either have save slots for different builds, or allow the user to generate entire worlds.

I personally don’t believe it would happen often enough to be of concern, but some people do have some very reasonable concerns as the leftover data from untouched worlds or save slots would add up over time and become a problem for them.
