[DEPRECATED] StreamX - Reduce lag and prevent map cloning

We decided that to keep it running we should charge a little bit more. Eventually we’re going to need more servers and this will help pay for it

Sheeeesh. :cold_face: Forever was 3750 before but now it got increased to 15,000 A 300% PRICE INCREASE! That is quite alot but I see why. I would recommend putting it to 3500 when you have enough for more servers unless you want to profit more for now.

15,000 seems worth it if you’re getting the service forever with no payments, 3750 or AKA $38 would be too cheap.

I would understand if you would but it ~5k - ~8k but 15k for a service which is not really in operation yet is too much. I bought 1 month for now to test it out, hope prices get lowered a bit if I decide to get lifetime.

I would make a second lifetime tier
A selfhosted version where they can download an encrypted version of whatever is running on your sever to run it themselves.

I am not interested in this, mostly because I trust StreamingEnabled enough. But, I want to share my two cents about this whole thing. If we are to trust and use this service to not only store our game on external servers and manage loading stuff, these types of outages and such will cause issues. I wouldn’t be willing to invest a lot into this (buying a membership) because I have no guarantee that my game would operate fine if this service were to go down.

I haven’t checked it out extremely in-depth but it would seem like either our games would be stuck with typical performance issues or the game wouldn’t load properly. I feel it is a bit odd for you to charge so much for such an early and undeveloped product which could cause customers issues if something occurred.

Regardless, take this all with a grain of salt. I just wanted to share my concerns IF I were to actually use this service.

(this is plain-out my opinion, but I do think this is all being taken a bit too seriously/professionally. Afaik, you aren’t an established business and so far nothing about this is superior over existing resources and studio resources/features)

I think it should be pay as demand and should depend on the amount of players your game gets. Just a thought as opposed to making things like this.

I completely agree with you. StreamX does offer performance gains, but most people won’t use this simply because of it being external. I think StreamX should go in the direction of optimising StreamingEnabled, as I’m pretty sure that’s possible.

There is no way for us to change how the built in StreamingEnabled service works unfortunately.
StreamX is external mainly to reduce load memory load on the ROBLOX server, no part data is stored after normal usage.

For now, it’s not possible to see how StreamEnabled works, but soon it will be possible.

Yeah I know. I thought StreamX was configurable, but guess I thought wrong. According to some other members in this thread it’s coming soon hopefully but I’m not sure. Personally I’d stick with StreamingEnabled for reliability.

The payment center is experiencing issues. I’ve made it private while we work this out.
