Feedback on Demented Defense

When reporting those please take pics so it’s easier for me to find them.

The camera makes me want to cry, everything else is great :slight_smile:

Yeah I had a hard time knowing what the hell was going on because the slightest move of my mouse changed the camera angle so dramatically. (seemed very glitchy) Looks polished af everywhere else though

My feedback thus far

Positives

  • Really polished
  • The teleport gui with the splash screen is pretty darn cool. (This is a minor thing but yeah)
  • Level design on point
  • Sound design on point

Negatives

  • Didn’t know what the character selection was straight away. Maybe just a surface gui saying “Pick your character” or something? Sounds minor but I was a bit lost to begin with.
  • Game assets loaded very slow when I started. My internet is pretty fast (50Mbits) but it took about 10 seconds to load the decals and characters at the start. As someone said above, a loading screen whilst assets are preloading would be useful and would probably look badass.
  • Don’t like the camera angle in the game. Feels restrictive but I got used to it with the shotgun
  • Ball and chain is totally underpowered. Shotgun is so much better.
  • I didn’t know whether you could actually ‘win’ or whether you just kept going (one guy said he played to wave 20) until your generator died. (I see @rachnera posted this too)
  • Became bored after only 5 or so rounds. Needs a bit more variety. Maybe a boss fight every so often?

BUG - Couldn’t click “back” on one of the server screens. “WaitForChild” was in the error but I didn’t screenshot it -_-. Happened in a server I joined but nothing seemed to happen and I didn’t appear on the list of players. I had the option to Kick one of the users too (the only user displayed despite the fact the party was full)

The game is promising and the gameplay is cool although after playing 5 or so rounds I found it grew stale quite quickly - something I’m sure will be addressed in the future (as I know this is only Alpha)

I keep complaints that it’s too low or too high. I might add text in saying go to escape menu and change your sensitivity.

  • During the starting game cutscene I walked around with wasd without seeing my character and then I died. If I walked around I’d die. and then when the cutscene finished I was kicked from that round and had to wait for the next round.

  • Also you used text boxes rather than text labels for quite a bit of your UI.

  • Default weapon should be ranged not melee.

  • Should show stats after every round.

  • Teammates need labels above their heads.

  • Should show number of enemies left.

  • And have an introduction GUI to new enemies at the start of the round.

  • Enemies need unique sounds to help identify them and give them personality.

  • At the moment I don’t think their are enough mechanics, I think adding ammo creates or upgrading weapons in game would be a great addition.

  • Dead bodies should be cancollide false with players and other entities.

Pretty nice game though.
