Maybe try makes the outside log have a texture idk it may look good.

Since Iām no texture artist, I decided to go with a low poly style instead. 
It looks pretty cool! The only problem i see is the outer part of the log needs some wood textures but since you are not a texture artist it looks really cool but i would recommend adding one.
