I would like to implement a Texas Hold’em Poker mini-game as part of a game that has many other mini-games. You would be able to place bets in-game and possibly gain more or lose your bet currency, currency which can be received
for free by playing other non-gambling related minigames
through purchase with Robux
According to the Roblox Community Rules,
Do not implement any gambling or casino style games that involve real money in any way. This includes Robux, as Robux can be purchased for real money. Games should also be fair and not be skewed in the developer’s favor .
which says that real money cannot be involved in any way through purchase of Robux. Does this mean that if I were to have any kind of gambling whatsoever in my game, that currency must be earned purely in-game?
One popular Roblox game that confuses me in respect to this rule is Jailbreak, where there are lootboxes in the game (with their percentages for loot rarity stated before purchase). While the lootboxes can be purchased with earned in-game currency, there is an option to purchase the in-game currency as well with Robux. So does that mean that I’m interpreting
involves real money in any way
too broadly? I have looked at other gambling related posts on this forum and was unable to come to a conclusion.
Yes, You can’t gamble with real money or robux, You can only gamble with in-game cash or coins,
I think this rule was created because of risk scamers, Cuz when you win and you pay him and then he don’t pay it back that’s is scam, Maybe this is why roblox created this rule!
It’s still not allowed if the currency is in any way purchasable with Robux.
Lootboxes aren’t considered gambling, since you’re guaranteed to get an item. There are separate rules for lootboxes, which boil down to stating the odds of earning an item:
I’m not sure why Roblox does it this way when lootboxes are considered gambling by many countries, but whatever. It is what it is.
Side Note: There is movement for the future for specific regions where regional laws may differ from Cali law in some specific ways such as lootboxes. Learn more @ PolicyService | Documentation - Roblox Creator Hub
