Open Studio while logged in and log out, note the CPU utilization for the login screen is low.
Close Studio and relaunch it. When Studio opens again to the login screen, CPU utilization will be oddly high.
Utilization starts high at 80%, stabilizes at 60%, drops to <2% after logging in.
This only seems to happen for the first launch login screen. It doesn’t happen if you reach the login screen after being logged in previously in the current studio instance.
May or may not be relevant:
Windows 10, recently unplugged VR cable to avoid a current Steam VR issue when opening Studio, happens with Steam open or closed. Haven’t tried rebooting yet.
A dump file for the Studio process is included in a private message.
Also - this generally seems to be a conflict with Oculus - if you have it but don’t need it and this is really in your way, disabling oculus has seemed to help others facing this issue as a temporary solution until we can get a patch out.
FWIW I do not have any oculus software. I use Valve Index. I might have some dev tools installed with Unity though as I was playing with VR there, but AFAIK nothing oculus specific.
I have not knowingly enabled any VR-related features in Studio and do not own any VR equipment, so it’s odd that Oculus is being misdetected. Regardless, thank you - I will look for the option to disable that.
Hi all, we believe these issues should now be patched. (Ensure you have latest build and have restarted). The high CPU on the login prompt as well as issues with high CPU tangling with VR setups should both be resolved. Please let us know if this is not the case.
