I started advertisements for my game, I ran them for two weeks to collect data but the retention and playtime stayed low (about 5.5 minutes and 2.5% D1 retention), I’m not exactly sure what I could add or change about the game to increase it. Any ideas?
The game is fine. The problem is that if someone joins and no one else is there the person will leave. You might consider putting a mode for solo players so you can have some engagement still even if not a lot of people are on there.
You gotta analyze when the kids, teenagers, and adults are more often free, or just a calculation for that. For example, on weekends a lot of kids and teenagers play, so that means more players. Also, check your demographic statistics so you can see who to prioritize.
