How do you get a "glistening" part material like the ocean in Work at a Pizza Place?


  1. What do you want to achieve? Keep it simple and clear!
  • I want to have an ocean part with a glistening ‘material’ as shown in the images above
  1. What is the issue? Include screenshots / videos if possible!
  • I can’t figure out which material / steps are required to achieve this affect
  1. What solutions have you tried so far? Did you look for solutions on the Creator Hub?
  • I tried all the Part materials such as Foil but none of them look like the images attached, even with the Reflectance set to 1.

Hmm that does look exactly like the foil material, just to be sure, in studio settings, what’s your graphics level set to?

If its at the max then I honestly don’t know, but I could’ve sworn foil has looked like that for me in the past


Yeah I just checked, its not the same color, but I’m sure if you tweak the lighting, you can achieve what you want.

(Also if the material looks different that’s cause its the new foil material, using the old one looks more like what you’re going for)


tldr: it might be cause of your studio graphics level

I set my graphics to max and it still looks similar in my game to your image example.

But I think the material looks different and more ‘flat’ compared to the material in this image that I want to achieve

It just seems like a property of the old foil material; from the screenshot you provided it seems you’re using the 2022 materials, so I think changing is the only way to get this exact effect you’re going for.

Oh this was the issue. I disabled Use2022Materials in MaterialService and now it seems to look how I wanted it to. Thanks for the help.
