How to make realistic golf course terrain?

I am making a very formal club house / golf course game. Any thoughts on how I should do the fairway of the golf course? If there are not any golfers out there, the fairway is a LOW CUT grass. I dont suppose you can change the height of grass in studio, and keep some grass the same height as it was before.

You can remove grass in some areas, it seems like the left side of the image would be fine w/o any grass shading, and then the right side can get grass.

You can’t change grass heights locally, so that’s your best bet I would say.

Im working on it, and I’m slightly leaning towards the idea of doing leafy grass?

I’m pretty sure you can change the height of grass for all players.

I didn’t mean locally as in client-side, but as in from one region to another.

Ah that makes sense. I thought OP wanted the same grass height for everything.

Hey! I had the same idea a couple weeks ago, I had tested terrain, but wasn’t satisfied with the lack realism.

This was what I made with meshes:

Only problem I had with meshes which is why I gave up, was the collision, even with precise collision fidelity, you would be floating over a bunker… If you can find a way around that then you’d be golden.

Hope this helps.

You can change the appearance of the Terrain Materials. In reality you could have 10 different types of grass if you make your own textures:

what if you turned the collisions for the mesh off, and just had some regular terrain (or a part) below it?

The terrain would handle all the collisions and the mesh could be purely visual.
