I don't know who's replying to who anymore

In my experience, logging out of DevForum then out of ROBLOX, then into both should fix it. If it doesn’t, something else has been changed or broken recently.

Doesn’t seem to work, guess I’ll try again in a few hours.

just log out and back into the devforums twice, no need to log in and out of roblox

once to put the image into the render queue and then again to get the image

It doesn’t seem to work unfortunately, but what you’re saying would make sense.

Oh. rip.

Maybe try redrawing your character on roblox? All I can think of right now.

I’ve tried logging out/in/shake it all about a bunch of times but it won’t update. Why should I spend so much time worrying about having to log in and out and shake it all out about. Really wish we could just upload static profile pictures, if we are needing to have our character then it would just be easier to screenshot it and upload.

Got it!

You have to make sure there’s only one session open (hit that “sign out all other sessions” button in options on the main site), then log out of roblox.com (then no sessions are open), and then log into the devforum twice.

Thanks to @zlib for half of the solution

(Also @anon80475429 try this if you have 30 seconds)

Glad you found a solution that works for you.

Late reply but I keep doing this. It works for a little while then breaks again sometimes not at all. This is a terrible user experience, I shouldn’t have to repeatedly log in, log out, come back, repeat for my picture to re-fix itself to only break a little later. I’ve decided now to just leave it. I’ve had enough messing around with it at this point

That’s ok, at this point if your avatar showed up I wouldn’t know it was you anymore. I just assume N/A is anon80475429.

Am I correct in saying that this wasn’t always so bad and we used to pretty much all have our avatars? I wonder if it was a Discourse update.

When we switched to Discourse, not many people had changed their characters immediately before logging in. Over time more and more people changed their characters as they logged in and less and less people made efforts to fix it after accepting it as unavoidable.

Now that the forum is becoming more public-facing, can this issue be looked into again? (Imagine if avatars were rampantly N/A on the main site)
