Earlier today, I noticed that my Voice Chat has been forcibly enabled due to getting a pop up saying that I won’t be able to hear others due to my volume being set to 0. As I have this feature disabled, I went to check my privacy settings to find the setting being gone entirely from my privacy page:
I now have VC enabled with no way of disabling it at all.
Expected behavior
I expect to be able to have the option to disable VC. I’m not interested in using this feature at all since I use Discord for voice calls and I’m not interested in having Roblox listen to my convos (for the uninitiated, Roblox still warns you for community violations even if your mic is muted).
Sorry about the confusion. As we continue to try make it easier to discover and use voice chat, we’re introducing functionality to enable or disable voice from the experience itself. You can follow steps below to disconnect voice chat and preference persists across game sessions.
Tap open the Roblox menu in the upper left of the screen
Navigate to Settings tab
Click “Connect” or “Disconnect” button next to Voice Chat
In case you change your mind and want to connect to voice again, you can click on the “connect” icon in game top level menu
I seem to be having an issue where I cannot hear players whether my voice chat is enabled or disabled.
My voice chat was disabled via on-site settings before this update rolled out, and now I cannot hear players regardless of if I’m disconnected from the vc or not.
I can see it say “joined voice chat” and “connected”, and I can see the vc indicator bubbles above players’ heads, but no sound coming through.
I was hoping to re-toggle the voice chat setting on and off to possibly fix this issue, but with the setting entirely removed from the site, that is now impossible, and I am stuck with a broken voice feature.
How can I get this resolved?
