Introducing Regional Pricing for Passes

I think this is a good concept but why not just have regional pricing when buying robux? That way it can just use the country of the payment processor instead of just trusting the user to have their location set to what it actually is.

I’ve been waiting for an update on regional pricing for a long time. Excellent update!

:eyes:

This could be one of the best updates ROBLOX has released in a while.

This is still a crazy number that many top experiences don’t meet. If you need more data, then increase the time window.

This is good, although I worry about people taking advantage and bypassing this system to get gamepasses for cheaper, we’ve already seen this happen with other platforms that also apparently have ways of ’ mitigating’ this. Surely if this wasn’t a concern for Roblox, then this regional pricing would’ve been applied when actually purchasing Robux, instead of handing it over to developers to make the choice.

I do believe that this would benefit our players, however it may be a disadvantage to creators if people find ways to bypass this. At least if the regional pricing was implemented when purchasing Robux instead, it would be global and benefit everyone, and there’d likely be a bigger aim of making it secure, since Roblox could lose money otherwise.

Good thing Roblox has access to most popular VPN IP adresses. What if I stay for longer than a week, though? Or a month? Does Roblox think I am now in a different country whenever I access the Services from a new IP in another country for a while?

They’d have to invade our privacy and determine our geographical coordinates from our device,.

You don’t appear to be a developer of a “top experience”, so how are you qualified to claim that top experiences aren’t able to meet that requirement? do you have some sort of reliable source that proves many top experiences aren’t meeting these? I’d assume that Roblox came up with this number based on the data they have on a large number of experiences.

I might be misunderstanding something or perhaps made a mistake on my end, but I noticed that one of my products appears to be priced well below the -30% threshold mentioned in Roblox’s regional pricing guidelines.

For context, the original price is 1399 Robux, but in Brazil it’s showing up as 785 Robux, which seems to be more than a 40% drop. As far as I understand, regional prices should not go below or above 30% of the default value.

I feel like Roblox should be eating regional costs rather than developers. If Roblox feels safe about countering people exploiting regional prices, then I don’t see why it should be up to the developers. In those countries, buying Robux would already be expensive anyway unless buying Robux itself were changed regionally.

I also find it weird that these prices are determined automatically without any way of being altered? But I suppose this is to prevent a developer from “attacking” a particular region in protest by raising prices only for them.
