roblox after dropping the 999999th useless ai feature that will be used to create brainrot slop within 1 second and be used to break their servers
drop that aliasing mode for textures lil cuh
Vibe Coders
vibe âcodersâ donât know jack shit on what theyâre doing, quite literally anyone off the street could qualify as a vibe coder, so this is what youâre comparing to
the companies that embrace this garbage are only hurting themselves
keep your head up and keep doing what youâre doing
Robloxâs response would be like: âWe will add that texture stuff⊠but first we are adding price floors to experiences as that is more important lol. In the coming weeks, we are adding an exciting new dynamic pricing system for all developers to get profits from! If too many players play one game the price of entry will go up for new players that havenât bought the game before. This will help our servers not blow up from too much players because they would have to pay.â
That would be crazy though, game price floors would kill roblox so lets hope they donât read this silly joke lol
I donât understand why the norm for the Devforum should be to stomp all over optional AI features. If you donât like AI because it prevents âimaginationâ, promotes âlifelessnessâ, or whatever; donât use it. Nobody is forcing you to. Make not using it part of the marketing for your project.
The goal with all of the new AI features is to lower the barrier of entry to building games. Not everyone knows how to code, model, make textures, etc. and to shorten the time from new-player-with-idea to finished game, Roblox is trying to help by offering ways to skip certain learning pathways with an obvious trade-off in quality. What Roblox gets from it being easier for people to make games is obviously more customers, more games on the platform and therefore more money. But this does not discount the use of AI itself. Roblox is a for-profit company if you are upset with them for trying to turn a profit youâre completely missing the plot here.
Now, Iâm not vouching for the quality of these features - theyâre all pretty bad. This release is the best weâve gotten yet, and itâs really just outsourcing the work to someone else. But the effectiveness of using AI in the game production pipeline itself isnât the discussion here.
As someone else said it is still up to the players to decide whatâs worth their time, regardless of âhowâ it was made.
Thank you for reading my poorly constructed midnight thoughts.
Fair point!
Also fair point. It would be better if developers actually learned how to do stuff because when you are skilled you can do things quickly, but it does skip a learning curve.
Very good point, but Roblox needs to hope the AI can help guide the developer to making a game pass and then the AI knowing how to script it for even more profit, AI can make some fake methods sometimes.
Itâs gonna be sad if a game gets really popular and the AI canât fix a game breaking bug and then all the players canât play the game because the developer has no idea how to do anything on there own. But you are right, a 8 year old isnât going to care if it is AI or not.
These are some nice points for a late night response. I donât agree with what Roblox is doing but if itâs for profit then it immediately makes sense. It feels wrong that talent people that love doing what they do get there work taken over by a bot that can soon do the same skill level stuff in seconds. Your points are valid, I just donât completely agree with the way they want to make money.
Really cool. I hope Claude is a stopgap for a better, open source solution being worked on. An AI builder - not modeller - would be so useful for placeholder art.
time to run while true do end immediately
go to hell, weâve told you many, many times before to stop with the ai crap and after 10 years on this platform iâve finally had enough, iâm taking my stuff to steam and getting the hell outta here
Release TextToSpeech and SpeechToText
Release something no one will use
Roblox how about you actually work on stuff we want, such as optimization, theres a ton of stuff that can affect your rendering outside of what even is being rendered in the game, make roblox playable and fun for everyone, such as a custom graphics settings, like render distance or shadow quality, and not limit us to 10 bars of graphics.
And if people starts using this ai stuff, its most likely gonna be really unoptimized since the devs havent done anything
let the ai features go and fix actual developer features that are half baked
useless update i aint gonna lie
we should all as a collective start naming our mesh files random garbage so the training data is left at a trainwreck
& scripting a word scrambler to encrypt/decrypt module names nâ whatnot could be handy in any experiences with data sharing enabled to achieve the same effect on the programming side. same would be done with comments in a script
I can imagine someone creating a custom explorer alternative that has this built in
I donât have much problem with AI under certain conditions, but I refuse to contribute to training one
the future is now chat letâs make unlimited games but no games
I love how people just exagerrate stuff for likes
you guys shouldnt be focusing on ai. its just deterring new devs from actually learning how to code/model/etc. focus on optimisation, adding stuff we actually want, fixing 10+ YEAR OLD BUGS or making the api documentation actually understandable so new devs can actually figure out what theyre doing. it shouldnt take 3 days and 2 people on top of the api for me to learn how to use a simple buffer and editable images, with the api documentation being no use at all
most good aiâs just read dev forums and roblox docs and also know lua so they wouldnt train on the encrypt stuff
just like to say ai can read and understand my mistakes and bug fix faster then i can useful tbf rojo and vs studio plugin and oh there this bug and in 30âs its fixed it without me doing anything pretty nice making full systems isnt easy and unlsss you know errors and how to code ai slop wont be a issue
why are people still whining about being replaced by AI? who is this actually replacing?
