Is a Rainbow 6 Siege style game possible?

For those unaware or need a refresher, in Rainbow 6 Siege, weapons can make holes in walls weak enough to be penetrated, be it wood, plastic, glass, etc. My question is if it’s possible and practical in Roblox. The first way I thought would work is that you can use CSG, but it’s pretty performance heavy. One way I thought this could be possible is by using tiny parts, but as you can imagine, that’d probably be even worse.

If it’s possible, I’d love to hear what direction I should head in!

Meshes. connect them because they almost have no effect.

Yes this is possible-- do not fly to close to the sun though as your game will get taken down.
Earlier in this week some guy posted about a R6 type of fragmentation system and it looked pretty great with not much lag and he also said there was a tilting system. Obviously it will have to be simple because of lag.

If you’re looking to reduce lag… meshes, unions and just overall using less parts. Other games also have some form of fragmentation systems (the only example I can think of right now is phantom forces with the glass)
Personally would love to see a game like R6. Less toxicity hopefully too.

i was the guy that posted that, yes its possible, but it would take some time to make something smooth and enjoyable, and this is basically the of my game too lol

as you can see this is a shotgun that shoots 12 bullets per shot, the performance is alright, and there isnt much lag, and there would be no lag at all if i turn off some quality features. so very possible indeed. Original Post

Would it mind if you made it open source for us to see?

um, maybe not, the script is very long, messy and extremely complicated, and its intertwined with other scripts, and this is going to be the main selling point of the game that i will be releasing, don’t want many copycats, i might after i release the game though.

That’s server sided though so it has an ugly delay D: you’d probably want it to be client sided if you want the same responsiveness and satisfying destruction as siege

maybe, but i do have security as a bigger priority as i plan on the game being very competitive

It wouldn’t be a problem for security, you simply roll back invalid changes and validate hit detection based on server simulations

ill work out something smooth/satisfying in the end, after the game is still in the testing phase

Indeed, it is possible. Things like this have been done in the past, games like Phantom Forces, and I doubt that you will have a hard time recreating Rainbow Six Siege on Roblox!
