I have made countless anti-cheats that are always bypassed, I know there’s not a way to make one that is not bypassable but is there a point in spending time and research to make a really well functioned one?
I’d say it depends on the kind of game you’re making. If it is a simulator or tycoon then I wouldn’t bother at all. Otherwise, it might be important. In FPS games or some other round-based games, I think making a decently effective anti-cheat can be worth it.
With that said, there are some things that aren’t worth preventing, because they aren’t used much in exploits, or they are too much work to block. In my opinion, I would only prevent the kind of exploits that anyone can easily create and are incredibly overpowered without much work. For example, if it is some kind of racing game, preventing JumpPower and WalkSpeed exploits along with teleporting and noclipping.
This all really depends on the kind of game, and I think it is really up to you and the player base to decide whether certain aspects truly need anti-cheats, or if they can be ignored. I think it’s potentially worth it to make a decently effective anti-cheat for your game, if it seems necessary.
I just answered this to someone recently, it all depends on if it’s needed or not Is it worth making an anti cheat - #3 by Dragonfable6000
It depends on what anti-cheats you’re talking about. Stuff like remote event validation and magnitude checks on the server is worth it.
