Issues with Custom Materials

First things first, I am new to this forum, so I apologize if this is not categorized properly or there are grammatic errors, but nonetheless, I will talk about this one issue i’ve been having.

Since today (05/19/2022) I have been having weird issues with the rendering of custom materials, textures seem to spazz out, be it on large or small objects, however, this happens on certain textures only.

I am writing this post in a hurry so I might edit it afterwards and add up some more information regarding the issue, but for now, I will leave some pictures describing the issues and the measures i’ve taken to try to combat it.




These pictures were how the game looked before today, as you can see, the textures were mostly fine.


And this is how they looked like until a few minutes ago, they changed depending on the angle you looked at them but for the most part they were completely screwed up.

I have tried using version history to revert my game to an older version, which did nothing, I also tried reinstalling studio, which if I’m honest, might’ve just made things even worse…

As I’ve said earlier, I am writing this in a hurry, so I haven’t made the topic as detailed as I could, I will edit it with more details once I’m available yet again.

EDIT: I have found out what might be the origin of the issue, but i do not know how to fix it, the issue happens on materials that are set to an “Organic” Pattern.

I am using regular material patterns as a placeholder solution for now, but they look rather terrible as opposed to the materials being set in their organic pattern.

Thank god someone is reporting on this, I tried to last night but they took my post down
From what I’ve experienced this only happens when UGC materials are being used. Not sure why no one makes a bug report on this but I guess that’s just how it is members see bugs but can’t report them in a timely manner. (or in the correct channel for that matter)

As you can see in my video I started experiencing this around 10PM EST last night (could have been sooner I wasn’t in studio for a few hours)

Can confirm.

In my case, using organic pattern makes my materials change to random default materials depending on the camera angle.

Its certainly bizzare and annoying, I hope this gets fixed soon.

I’m gonna have to test that out, I’m sending a message to bug-support to get a report filled out and if that’s part of the issue would be helpful for them to have it in the repo steps

That definitely does seem like one of the reproduction steps in this, A temporary workaround until they fix it is just set your materials to Regular until they revert whatever change they did yesterday or fix it.

I’ve been having this issue and it is extremely frustrating, thank you for reporting this issue. I’m hoping this can be fixed soon. I am unable to work as an environmental designer due to this bug.
