It's time to say goodbye to phone numbers

i dont see an issue with it. it legally must be disabled for under 13 users and it can be toggled for everyone else

I see issues with it not legally, but from moral and financial perspectives. I personally believe that targeted advertising and surveillance must die out, for the health of both users and companies.

that won’t be happening any time soon, it’s literally how google stays in business and there’s really no major lobbying against it. this is not to say its a good thing either

While I agree that phone numbers are not great way to secure your account and that they shouldn’t be forced upon us (we can already use 2FA and security key for this), but this would be different if Roblox actually offer us options to ‘verify’ using one of those options like most websites does that (Github, Amazon, etc all provided multiple options to verify before accessing or doing something. For example, when you click “verify with another method”, it show you which to use like 2FA, Security Key, email, phone, etc).

Still, phone number shouldn’t be the primary method to verify ownership because it’s pretty stupid and phone numbers can be changed any time. 2FA and security keys should be strongly encouraged as they are completely unique to a device, can be used to prove that you own them.

It would be nice to verify once in a while, like once every week or more so it lessen headaches whenever we try to interact something on the website. Nobody want to verify every time they click a button…
