Hey, members of the best restaurant on Roblox!
2023 has been a truly transformative year for Kohaú, and we’re proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish. We’ve shipped over 20 content updates on a bi-weekly schedule since March (when I joined the team), each with a new innovative feature. We’ve also published various quality-of-life updates which improved the performance and experience in the game overall.
At the end of my first year working on Kohaú Hibachi Restaurant, I’d like to reflect on what we’ve been able to accomplish together this year…
Innovation Is Our Passion
At Kohaú, we’re passionate about innovation and delivered several features this year that pushed the boundaries of the restaurant roleplay industry:
Taiyaki Ice Cream
The first content update we pushed this year has become one of the community’s favorite features: Taiyaki Ice Cream! The update came with several flavors of ice cream, a brand new cooking process specifically for it, and a new animation for eating it. This is one of my personal favorite updates too!
Two-Player Tricks
One of the most unique features we added this year was the ability for customers to be involved in tricks. We’re so excited to explore more ideas for two-player tricks in future!
Chef Benefits
Our Chef Benefits system sets us apart from other similar groups because it allows us to reward our chefs for playing and working. As chefs complete tasks, they earn “XP”, which allows them to level up in the season.
We’ve updated the theme every month and plan to update every month for the next year (at least!), so stay tuned for even more rare rewards!
2D Nametag Particles
One of our favorite ideas to explore this year was 2D nametag particles. Though they posed a challenge to program, they turned out super cool and were a great learning experience for me.
The Big Cooking Update
This summer, we shipped a huge revamp to our cooking system. We rewrote almost the entire thing from scratch, adding over 15 new minigames and overall making the cooking process even more advanced and enjoyable. One of my personal favorite minigames was the “Fruit Ninja” style chopping minigame.
Kohaú has been known for its revolutionary cooking system for a while now, but this update showed that even the best could get better.
You Asked, We Delivered
We made it a focus this year to implement as many of YOUR suggestions as we could! So, let’s take a look at your amazing suggestions that made it to the game this year:
VIP NPC Customers
We loved the community suggestion to add VIP NPCs that order two items and give more rewards than regular NPCs. This has become a popular feature amongst our chefs. We also added a way to become a VIP NPC by donating 1000 Robux to the group, which became a popular product.
Stemming from this suggestion, we also added seasonal NPCs such as Skelly the Skeleton at Halloween, and Santa in the holidays!
Table Cleaning (and place-able dishes)
Table Cleaning was a great idea that we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to implement. We created a Bloxburg-like placement system allowing players to click a table whilst holding an empty plate and place their plate on the table. Chefs can then clean the table for rewards.
Secret Recipes
Secret Recipes was an amazing suggestion, and is one of my personal favorite features because it’s so expandable. We’ve added 4 secret recipes (3 foods and 1 drink) this year and plan to add many more in future!
Gamepass Gifting
Games like Kohaú are better with friends, so we loved the idea of allowing players to gift their friends gamepasses with their own Robux. We published our gamepass gifting update in November and it has become a very well used feature in the short time it’s been out.
Vehicles Update
We finally updated all of our vehicles to make them more appealing and enjoyable to use. We entirely recoded our boat system to make our jetskis and yachts much smoother and easier to control. We also completely remodeled the yacht. Overall, we’re super happy with how our new vehicles turned out.
Seasonal Updates
We pushed several seasonal updates this year and tried to give the community something they hadn’t seen before:
Easter Event
We had a cool quest around Easter time that involved finding and chasing the Easter bunny for an in-game prize. Our developers launched eggs out of egg launchers which awarded a badge to players who collected them.
Ghost-busters (Halloween Event)
We wanted to do something different this Halloween, so we settled on a ghost-hunter quest. Players had to find ghosts around the map and eliminate them using a special weapon. The more ghosts a player captured, the more rewards they got! This ended up being an enjoyable event for everyone.
Holiday Update
We added the ability to send customized Christmas cards to your friends for the month of December! We also added various other features in our holiday update, such as an advent calendar, throwable snowballs, ice skating, and more!
1 Million Members
Though we hit 1 million members whilst we were on summer vacation so we couldn’t celebrate it in game how we would’ve liked to, it is still one of the biggest accomplishments a group can make. We thank each and every one of our 1 million members for playing our game and joining Kohaú.

Look To The Future Now, It’s Only Just Begun!
We’re super proud of everything we achieved this year and overall we want to thank you for playing. Kohaú would be nothing without the support of our amazing community, and we appreciate every single one of you. You are the reason we continue to push the limits of the restaurant roleplay genre and we thank you for sticking with us throughout our journey.
We’ve loved updating the game for you this year and are excited to continue our regular schedule in 2024. We’ll share our 2024 ideas and plans soon, and maybe you’ll be able to enjoy them in a new dining area …
From everyone on the team, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We hope you’ve enjoyed playing Kohaú this year as much as we’ve loved updating it!
