Lag Reduction In my game

Hi there my Stylxus from Stylite Studios, and today i have made this post to ask for some advice on reducing lag in my game. We are going for a realist. type of game and a very interactive type of game for Role playing to be at its best quality

the game’s name is Westville RP. Here is a link if you want to test it out on what we have so far:

So For starters the cars are very high poly from 80k Tris and Up, But i want this kind of leveled detail cars will it be possible to find a modeler to make the same detail level of car in lower Tris if that is possible then that would be my first step.

Try and reuse as much parts as possible and don’t delete a lost of stuff at once and lastly don’t overuse remotes as in use them a bunch to the point the server can’t handle it and it crashes. But its really not that hard to not have lag in a ROBLOX Game nowdays.

thanks for the feedback i am just trying to keep my game optimized before official release.

Your welcome, it’s just for me I literally have to try to make the game lag lol. But your welcome and I wish you best of luck and I also hope your game is successfull.

Lag is common is any big roblox games, there are many reasons for lag to occur.

  • Lots of parts
  • Uneeded failing scripts
  • Lots of detailed buildings close together.
  • Backdoor scripts/lag scripts

It seems like a good game and shouldn’t lag too much. I would recomend looking through all scripts that there is no suspicious scripts in random parts, try and union as much parts as possible, or even better mesh them. Roblox are always trying to improve the state of how much their games can take, but your game should run fine with 20-30’ish players.

Alright, so I went into your game Just some random stuff: first of all, your game is amazing keep up the good work! Second of all: I have a GTX-1650 and didn’t lag at all except for some minor frame drops so here is my opinion: you should really delete/fix some of these scripts:

You should also use the least amount of parts as possible, but honestly, the game runs fine on my computer, and your optimization is currentely decent.

I know I’m really late to this but try to not use Unions because they cause quite a bit of lag. Normal roblox parts shouldn’t affect fps or server side lag too much. Also check all of your scripts and make sure they don’t have any errors since errors can also cause lag. If you have a big map try developing a little script that unloads(set transparency to 1 or set visible to false) parts of map depending on how far the local player is or set it to unload if the player can’t see that part of the map. If you have detailed cars maybe make them a bit low poly.

Thanks, A lot for the feedback

Hi, I’m late too.

Optimizing is a really tedious task, because when you realize your game needs optimizing, it’s pretty much already done, and you don’t want to go back and fix things most of the time.

From what I have learned, all sorts of things can reduce your games performance, but here is some of the crucial ones:

  • Too many loops

  • Unanchored parts

  • Too many welds

  • Over-used textures (textures on non-visible faces)

  • Free models that have a backdoor, or lag script

  • Many others

These are pretty easy to fix, but they take some time to do so.

side note: If you are unable to fix this, I can help you, as this is my specialty. Interested? Dm me
