Making a Realistic Flash Light

Hey there!

I know there’s been a topic on this before, but now that FIB phase 3 is out, its expired and doesn’t work anymore.

So i’m trying to make a realistic flashlight, but i’m having trouble. I can’t figure out how to make it look and act like a normal flashlight. What would i have to use?

I don’t need help on the scripts or the actual flashlight, only the light.

This is what i’m trying to achieve:

Also if it’s possible to make those outlines on the light, please let me know.

I am willing to spend as much time as possible, to get this flashlight as detailed and clean as possible.

Any help is appreciated!

It’s not possible yet, the Roblox lighting engine wasn’t dated enough to make it possible, but in the future, it might be possible.

For future people

It is somewhat possible now by using the Future lighting!

You could just make an image that is just the darkness of the light and use that as a GUI overlay. Then you can make an actual light to be on the player and set shadows to Future, and it might look at least kinda good.

This may be possible soon thanks to the new Future update.

It is. I managed to make one that looks quite similar to the picture, and that can bend according to the shape of the objects its lighting up. It is still a WIP tho.

ROBLOX Lighting is in BETA. So far it looks fine at the moment.

Not a good solution if you have other stuff visible like viewmodels for guns etc.

I actually made a whole model and explanation for this! Here, it’s open source.
