I’m working on a game project and need to get some pricing info for hiring developers. I’m looking for estimates in the following areas:
Scripters: I need various systems implemented (for example, survival mechanics, an inventory/currency system, a radio/communication feature, a crafting system, and a building/trap system). It’d be great if you could break down the costs per system, including potential updates later.
Builder: I’m after someone experienced with large map builds, think something larger than typical prison-life maps.
UI Developer: Need someone to design and implement a modern, interactive interface.
Modeler: Looking for quotes on modeling characters, weapons, and environment assets.
Please drop your ballpark figures or a breakdown of your rates. Thanks in advance for your input!
Ok heres some info I’ve gathered, I also left prices in USD (cause a lot of people around here use USD so I thought it might help, ofc the USD I list is just a guess as Im not entirely sure it would price for that much)
Large maps usually cost upwards of 150K Robux or upwards of $200
Most of the game mechanics you have listed would probably cost anywhere between 10K to 100K, or $100 or even more depending on the scripter.
Not to mention you may need the scripter to stay around so you can update the game, and fix bugs that may appear, which could cost like 5K to 20K for every thing like that, or just pay them 10% to 30% of the revenue your game generates.
UI would probably be anywhere between 5-50K or upwards of $30
And for the modeler, well I have no idea gonna be real lol
If you wish to underpay developers then sure, but fair good prices, that the majority of actually good developers sell their services are around these numbers.
Your best bet is probably to get people from low income countries if you’re that desperate. For example, I live in Malaysia, and if you convert USD to local currency, it’s going to be a lot.
As for scripting, I tend to charge 10 to 14 USD per hour. I’ll be only available after February 20 if you want to hire me though.
It depends on the people, everyone make up the prices.
Only builders have standards for the most part between 5k to 10k for a small/medium map or 30k for a more detailed medium/big map. If they charge higher just ignore them.
for ui designers, low-ball a lot, try to find one that does good uis for 1k to 2k max if he asks 5k haggle like crazy.
Scripters are the most random with prices, if you low-ball too much there’s a big chance that they will ghost you, so instead tell them the system you want them to script and ask for the price for that single system (do the same for every system), they’ll try to high-ball you, so if he asks for 5k for a system than haggle for 3k, if they insist on 5k go for 3.5 and so on.
I’ve never hired a modeler so i have no experience with them, you don’t really need one just use the toolbox.
You can spend a really low amount if you are good at talking and negotiating.
200k is way beyond what I expected. Just so everyone knows, I have around $3500 to work with, and I’m willing to use all of it if needed. I expected way lower numbers than what you’re saying.
Appreciate the breakdown. $200+ for a large map seems fair, but those scripting costs are all over the place. I was hoping I could get most of this done within my $3500 budget, but it’s sounding like that might be tough.
This is actually helpful, especially the part about haggling. I wasn’t expecting scripting to be so unpredictable. I’ll try breaking things down by system and see where that gets me. Also, I’d rather have custom models instead of toolbox stuff since i’mm trying to hit the front-page, but I get what you’re saying.
At the end of the day production money is always cheaper than advertise money. The budget should 40% go for the production and 60% for advertisement or even 30% 70%
Yeah scripting prices are very wild, what I would do is wherever you plan to hire people, put a smaller price that fits in your budget and say prices are negotiable.
$3500 USD or 3500 Robux? The 200k figure was Robux, just in case that wasn’t clear. $3500 USD should be more than enough unless you have some ambitious plans.
