Need ideas for a desert map for sword fighting game

So I’ve been making a sword fighting game over the past couple of weeks. I’m currently making a desert map but it just feels very empty. I’m wondering what else I can add to make it a bit less empty, or is it good how it currently looks? Any feedback/ideas appreciated. Thank you!

Do the cactuses currently take damage? If they took damage it would be cool.

Here are a few ideas!

  1. This would be a cool feature with a bit of fatigue. (Slowing the player down)
1.1) And the water making the player slower would be good.
  2. The edges of the map look boring; maybe add a pad that will launch the player to the middle.
  3. Add a few crates to break open for power-ups (Desert Themed obviously)
  4. Add a few Camels or other desert-themed things.
  5. To increase realism, you can add posters to the walls of some of the buildings and or in the sand.
6. Make borders a bit more interesting

6.1) Group all borders together & duplicate them.
6.2) Scale them out a bit from the middle until it looks like there are mountains behind (Not too big)
6.3) Add (Cacti, camels, buildings, etc) to the first set of mountains

  1. Marvel at your work

Also, I would love to see how this sword-fighting game turns out!
Tag/DM me about it, I’ll give feedback 100%.

Not yet but I do have it in my list of stuff I want already, thank you!

These are some great ideas. I love the border ideas. I was struggling to make them a bit more interesting. Thank you!

No problem, make sure to update us when you are done!
Would love to see the finished result.

Also, I would consider lighting too:

Thanks for the suggestion! Definitely something I want to add but I think it might be done when all of the maps are finished.

Will do!
I’m not really a lighting expert, but we’ll probably have different lighting for different maps so we might do the lighting later. Not really sure how that would work.

Also, another thing for the desert map: Add Dust & Tumbleweeds! That sounds like a lot of fun! I have a couple of suggestions: It would be great to add custom lighting for each map. Also, for the desert map, how about including some dust and tumbleweeds? That would really enhance the atmosphere!

Already got both of those! Hard to see in the screenshot though, but thank you!

That sounds great. In that case, I think it would be really helpful to add a few more screenshots of the map to give everyone a better perspective!

Ground perspective: Much easier to see the particles now. By no means am I a VFX designer but I don’t think they look too bad.

That looks amazing! I would love to see this game in action. Is it using a map rotation, voting system, or a one map per server type of gameplay?

We’ll have a voting system, but currently there’s not really much gameplay-wise.

What is the duration for each map, and is it PVE, PVP, TDM, or a combination of these modes?

  1. Yo since it is a sword fighting game I will recommend adding Some Blocks like structure ( ofc , need to suit the theme tho ). so players can Jump on it And Have some great gameplay Mechanics ( reference as rivals) if you have played rivals there you can see so much barrels and stuff where we can hide and Jump and attack.

  2. I think You can may be Scale the map up a bit ?

  3. Add a Mining area ? I see a Mining like Structure in the map , make players able to go inside and Fight there too.

Also I will recommend Looking for some unique map borders , this Current One in your map is The old Style of Map borders tho

It’s a sword fighting game, not a gun fighting game. That’s why the map is quite small. But I could definitely do something with the temple and make it a cave or something, thank you!

Yeah my bad :joy: I edited it into Sword Fighting game lol

Yeah peace !
