New GeomTools Plugin - QuickRoad is finally here!

Yeah, figured there was behavior that I was missing that would explain the need for the custom draggers. That makes sense. I expect that my complaint will become non-existent after extended use of this plugin, just need to get used to using the draggers on the left rather than switching to the studio ones.

Updated using initial feedback:

  • Roads are now anchored by default.

    • This won’t apply to nodes you already created, you’ll have to set Anchored on them in the properties pane.
  • Lane markings are now CanCollide false. Didn’t add an option for this since I figure nobody will ever want CanCollide true lane markings.

  • Increasing the lane count will now add lanes symmetrically, so you don’t have to muck with the lane markings to get the yellow lines to be in the center.

  • Fixed the padding on the Settings panel. It should have worked before but there’s some weird bug with automatic size breaking it. Used an extremely ugly hack to fix this in a way that shouldn’t break once the underlying bug is fixed.

Honestly, the plugins you provide community with actually have a use, and they’re a life changers that you must have, otherwise, youll have troubles without them

You’ve fixed the middle line centering thing, thanks!

Sorry, I don’t think that picture was too representative of what I was wanting, so here’s a better one:

I could pretty easily achieve this with only the ability to set the line color on only one side:

I could just set the line color manually, but what about when I want to build curved highways?

To be honest I don’t want to have to comb through every line part and manually set the color. If you add that ability, it unlocks a whole world of possibilites :stuck_out_tongue:

Ah, I didn’t actually realize that yellow edges were common even on fully divided highways like that. I’ll figure out some solution to let you color the shoulder marking if present.

Probably what I’ll do is let you choose the type of line marking for the shoulder, with “none” being one of the options, and shoulder width only shows up if you have it set to something other than none.

This is sooo cool!!!
Can not wait to use this!

This is a god gift, just like most of your plugins. Thank you so much stravant!
Small question: do you plan to add support for building sidewalks automatically? Those are a pain to add alongside and it’d be really appreciated if there could be an option to have sidewalks. Thanks again!

This is going to be one of the most useful programs for me right now. Whenever I try to make roadways it either takes a ridiculous amount of time to copy and paste or the plugins for it simply don’t work. I know since it’s by you it will be incredible!

This is a tricky one, I’d actually be interested in adding them but I was having trouble figuring out how to do it in a way where you wouldn’t still have to do extra manual work lining up the sidewalks with the buildings, and adding affordances like driveway insets and whatever.

I could place just a curb so that you can easily GapFill between the edge of the curb and the buildings.

Ideals welcome.

This plugin is insane, thank you so much!!!

Could this be used to make train tracks maybe?

To be honest, I’d take anything at this point, even an extra lane that is automatically concrete-painted. I’m really in awe of your attention to detail though! Thanks for trying to make a product that’s actually good and quality! Keep up the good work!

Absolute W plugin. I use all of your stuff.

Hey your plugin is great! I have one problem though, there is a lot of z fighting in the road pieces. It’s not this biggest problem, but it might affect performance and looks bad if you look at it well enough. What can I do to solve this other than going into every road piece and changing the height by .0001?

There are some bugs i found while using this plugin, here are some:

  • Lane markings for some reason don’t change sometimes or don’t listen at all to what you select, sometimes literally skew (happens with 3 lanes only)
  • Can’t make an intersection because more than three roads and it wont bother trying to do fourth because of “empty union result error”

Yet another stravant plugin to add to my suite of plugins. Great work as usual!

Is this project still being worked on? I’ve been playing around with it and so far its the best road plug-in I’ve used. However, even though it’s the best, doesn’t mean it’s flawless, just a couple of bugs here and there, but the very thing I’m getting ticked about is the white dashed line option. It is not converting it to dashed lane line, it is still a continuous white line. Other than that everything is fine to create the basics of the road. Just a couple of suggestions, please add more lining option, for example, solid + dashed yellow line and dashed yellow line. Another suggestion I have is to have a lane maker, so you can easily configure merging lanes and stuff. Overall I highly recommend this plug-in to anybody looking for a road maker plug-in, it’s easier than Archimedes.

Sorry for the lack of update, I was taking some time off. I’ll be coming back to this soon with some updates.
