As far as I understand it, Roblox ignores bots when qualifying for the verified badge:

we will only include genuine followers and exclude any followers our systems have identified as bots. The threshold for the number of followers required will remain at 10,000.

I read somewhere in the past that they actually remove botted followers each time you reach that number and are otherwise qualified for the verified badge, but I can’t seem to find that source anymore.

It’s not very known, but when you hit 10K followers for the first time, Roblox removes all the ones they detect as bots, which explains the significant drop. After this happens, your follower count no longer updates instantly. It updates around every 24 hours, I’m assuming because each follower goes through some manual verification before it’s added to the count. Intended behavior.
