Notice about issues with opening Places

Reverting my place version worked. I can now access the place on team create! <3

I figured this was going to be a platform wide issue when I noticed it.
Thankfully I can report that reverting to an earlier version solved the issue.

How are you reverting w/o getting inside the studio?

You can revert through the site, on the game’s page click the “…” to the right of the name, go to configure this place, then the version history tab.

two games we were working on in team create / group games are acting the same…
no way to enter, getting the error :
Could not open the place "XKXKXK with exception: “Unable to open the place. Please restart your application and try again. If you continue to encounter this error, please contact customer service.”.

we’ll this data be restored? did we just lost 2 games?! we have been working on for a few months?

Will we get an update on exactly how this happened and what roblox is doing in the future to make sure this will never happen again? This makes me weary about developing in roblox studio at all, how do I know that what I’m working on right now isn’t going to be lost in another incident like this?

Same here. Just reverted but doesn’t solve anything. Keep getting the same error. (I can’t even acces the game.)

You might have to revert a few more versions? This should solve studio access to the game. My issue is with teleports to the corrupted places.

As Defaultio mentioned above, the only fix I could find was multiple/long term reverts on the broken place via web-page settings on the place. You may lose some progress, but the place returns to a workable version.

That really sucks… I’ve been putting more then 5 hours in scripting for the last 2 days…

Thanks for your help @Defaultio & @janboe_mcflurry but I think I’m going to wait for a day or two in the hope that Roblox comes with some sort of fix which makes it workable again.

Doesn’t seem like waiting any amount of time is going to help, the progress is gone I guess all you can do now is move on.

What’s happening - I can’t even download a previous version of my game. I hope Roblox finds a solution for this or all of our progress may be lost.

I suggest all developers to save their work to files every time they are going to take a break/stop development.

I want to know what went wrong seeing as this is a colossal disaster. Will we get an incident report?

This is also a great example for Roblox to keep in mind with respect to putting everything into the cloud to the detriment of local functionality (e.g. game settings being locked to published games, heightmap importer requiring a game asset decal, etc.). If the only place I kept my projects was the cloud and I never worked / saved locally, I could have lost many many many hours of work like many developers here have. If a worse incident occurs someday, maybe I could even lose everything. It’s important Roblox keep things like this in mind going forward. Games are not disposable toys to many developers, and we need layers of redundancy to be easy and comfortable to use.

I lost hours and hours of progress on my game because of this. I really hope Roblox ensures this doesn’t happen again as it’s extremely discouraging having a setback like this.

They said you just have to revert to a previous version. And there will probably not be a backup.

Same I have autosaves on but it’s telling me the latest auto save was 1 month ago

Is it currently safe to publish games? I’d like to push a new game update, but Studio’s still being a little funky so I’d rather not take any chances.

I’m pretty sure it is. I recommend saving a local copy though just in case.
