Please refrain on causing drama on a devforum portfolio. I have the right of creating anything I want and not giving it to you. I also have the right to practice and create content to fill up my portfolio. Again please refrain from causing unnecessary drama.
I highly recommend if you are doing free work to build up a portfolio, you follow through. It’s unfair for the client to be promises free work, be mislead by you and then denied that free work, then for you to use the client’s products, groups, logos, assets, images to advertise your own portfolio. Not only is this discrediting for you, but it also makes you seem like you would happily steal other assets from other groups just to upload them to your portfolio.
In short, if you promise someone free work, do it for free unless they agree to pay or want to pay. Never mislead people.
I suggest anyone reading this to please do research prior to ever hiring someone, it’s important that you hire someone who is credible, trustworthy, and is willing to work in a proper relationship between commissionee and the commissioner.
I’m in no way attempting to stir up drama or attack anyone; however, it should be noted that with this specific commission the client did not receive any promised assets and was mislead into believing they would receive assets, all while the copyright of the client is being used to advertise this developers portfolio. I’m simply warning against the practice, offering advice for the commissioner and commissionee.
I hired Trophane through his discord ticket system. Paid an upfront fee of around 1k give or take. He sent the completed art and looked beautiful, only the text was tilted. In their terms and conditions, it states that there’s a maximum of 3 changes before the order is cancelled. I asked them to make it face front, not tilted and they said it was too big of a change. If I wanted it fixed they told me I had to get to the back of the line and wait. They ended up closing their logo services and opening UI services only.
Overall their art is exceptional, however their customer service is a 0/10 for me.
