Place Stealing Exploit - Regardless of Filtering

I can confirm that The0neAnd0nly is a big “Exploit finder” and could do harm or good if he wants to. He was on my friend list a long time ago, but we lost contact.
And yes, as clone says, he was the one behind the reason “ROBLOX” got friends back in the time.
But there’s more than one person behind that exploit.
Anyway. He manages to find plenty of exploits, idk why roblox hasn’t got him to help them to patch/find all the exploits. Rater than letting him just do it, and earn cash on it.

That’s false, unless there’s another time I don’t know about. RenderSettings was the one that did that, whoever was owner of that account at the time (it’s changed hands a couple of times, I really don’t know who it was) used the bytecode exploit back when that was a thing. He got CoreScript access on the server and proceeded to use the (at-the-time) new in-game FR feature to have ROBLOX send him an in-game friend request, which he accepted. This lead to it being disabled for security reasons. As far as I know.
It was very recent.
I think Roblox still has 1 friend.
Roblox has one friend right now

[strike]So, it’s probably a good idea for us to temporarily pull our game(s) from the site. Overwrite the place with a blank baseplate with maybe some troll message and save your latest, working copy to your computer or if you want to be brave keep it on but accept it could be stolen.
[/strike]
Nope, see next post

edit: didn’t read every single post my bad

As people have stated earlier, over writing isn’t helping if they have acess to the archive. As they could just find the earlier cached name on the place and then download it and rename it, and they have the place.

pls pls pls read threads before saying anything

had already been answered twice – now three times.

Then this is a full panic situation

Like I said, this literally just happened like 2-3 days ago.
Roblox still has 1 friend because of this.

He has unimaginable power at his hands right now.
He can get any asset, and he can add or remove anyone’s friends.
But he has no intent to “bring doom and destruction” to roblox. He just wants to make money.

…by bringing doom and destruction to roblox

Does anyone know if he has the ability to steal models/modules uploaded to the site?

Yes. Well he says yes.

Yes. Well he says yes.
Well darn, this is really disturbing.

Roblox should consider going after him in court for this - a class-action lawsuit on behalf of us developers would be very appropriate imo.

ROBLOX would have to spend more money to sue him than they’d gain from him, and what if he isn’t in a country that he can be sued in (i.e. China)?
It’d send a message to other exploiters/hackers, and discourage/prevent them from exploiting in the future.

ROBLOX doesn’t lose any money from places being stolen – there’s no reason for them to try to discourage what doesn’t harm their revenue stream. They of course punish them when able to discourage ROBLOX becoming rampant with exploiters, but going to court when they don’t even have a proper legal team is a terrible idea just so they can “discourage people from exploiting”.

Are you kidding me??
I’m really finding it hard to want to publish more games after this has happened.

I’m sure I’m not the only one. In due time this will hurt their revenue stream.

They’d lose more money taking it to court than they would over a couple of sobbing game developers who’d eventually come back to develop games anyway so they could DevEx. Stop asking them to take legal action – it’s not going to happen.

This is definitely a huge and serious exploit, though I think it’s important to remain calm and remember that this isn’t going to suddenly have catastrophic effects on all of ROBLOX’s existing games.

Let’s say you have a relatively popular place that someone buys the stolen version of. So some random guy has your place - what now, though? If they’re having to buy a stolen place, they’re probably not competent enough to know how to really update it at all. Plus, if you have an already established fanbase, they’re not going to give up all their data to play the copied version. And given that the place was obtained via exploit, we would hope that the thief would get banned for even attempting this.

I think the greater risk lies with games that are near completion but haven’t been released yet. If a thief were to take that and get it popular first, that could be quite detrimental to the original developer. In that case, best to just close the ROBLOX place slot to avoid drawing attention to it and continue working on it off of the website.

They sold my game for $15 :frowning: Thats a little hurtful when I made way more money from the game than that

Probably cause its super broken and old…

lol… :uhhh: , they bought my first card game I made. Which did extremely well, but probably wouldn’t be successful today on roblox. The guis are super basic, and the game is thrown together (since I made it in like 2 weeks).

Edit: I doubt it is valuable at all, maybe to study how I did a card game (its not super hard) and try to make their own. but who knows
