Arm based windows devices accounted for 1% of computer users (8-10% of total computers with Macs included) in 2023.
There is no reason to put in the effort if roblox refuses to make a version for 2% of computer users (linux users)

This is false. ARM-based PCs had a market share of nearly 14% in 2023. And a Linux user can have a machine ARM-based. Porting Studio to ARM-based machines will obviously benefit everyone.
i would want to have an ARM machine, it’s heat efficient , power efficient and therefor less noise and more battery life
i don’t see why not
what’s the downside here? it is in early stage so i understand not a lot of programs are supported yet, YET when they are there wouldn’t be a reason to not have one assuming the benefits outweighs the compromises
That is including macs in the 2023 statistic which make up the majority of that statistic (which already have an arm build iirc, this is about Windows on Arm). But including a study from 2024 (i was using one from 2023 pre-Arm windows laptops being available since they released in 2024) its 11% of windows users, so around 10% of computer users worldwide
I’m not saying it would be a bad thing, its just roblox already claims they “struggle” maintaining basic features so i doubt they would be willing to do an entire new port for a minority of developers. Porting Player to ARM64 is a different story though since (sadly) ARM64 will probably gain more users
there’s way more than 2% people using linux, since a lot of people are switching to linux since windows 11 isn’t that good and windows 10’s updates will end in 2025
i mean thats the statistic I found but still
roblox refuses to acknowledge developer groups larger than ones with an ARM Windows laptop so this most likely wont happen
I’d switch to Linux in a heartbeat if Roblox Studio had proper support, I absolutely hate Microsoft and Windows 11
More people will adopt ARM and Linux over the years to come, we’ll just have to wait
personally I see RISC-V overtaking arm once the big companies see the potential in the current Mini ATX RISC-V boards that have gone from iPhone 4 level to Core 2 Quad level in a span of a few years
My Android phone has a Debian subsystem installed.
You can also find ARM-based Debian systems running on Raspberry Pi’s.
Adding onto this because as of recently, Roblox has seemingly blocked Roblox Player on ARM64 Windows by disallowing software emulated playing. Really annoying because how am I supposed to do my job?
I still don’t see how this is true, I’ve been using Windows 11 since I built my PC.
I generally agree with your feature request. I do not agree with investing your money in a new platform that still has room left to grow in terms of compatibility. You knew you were going to work with Roblox and Roblox Studio, which are not supported natively and could break at any time.
ARM64 has been around for the same amount of time as X86-64. Its not a new architecture, all phones have been using it since at least 2016.
ARM on PCs is a relatively new thing but its had time to be properly specificated on Mac, and Microsoft is just being lazy on their end.
In a perfect world all code would be written to support any architecture but we cant have nice things. Roblox is a 20 year old engine (possibly older if they’re still using code from Interactive Physics [though i think thats the spring solver which isn’t supported anymore]). At this time, X86 (32 bit) was the norm for all PCs.
Referring to “new” as in the PC world.
If anything, MacOS should get native support first before Windows ARM, due to the demand. At this time, I see ARM64 Windows laptops as glorified web browsing and office machines, due to the lack of compatibility.
It’s like the Windows phone all over again.
alright here’s a list that explains why in my opinion windows 11 is bad:
yes, forgive me for thinking we would have the same treatment as mac users, of course
Yes because you are a minority compared even to Mac users. Why should Roblox spend valuable time and resources on this because you decided to pick an unsupported platform for XY reason? Let me uninstall Windows, get Linux and start begging for native support. If the demographic does not grow, you won’t see any changes.
If 25% of Windows devices were ARM64, that would still be more of a marketshare than ALL Macs combined though? Windows is already a huge installbase and it makes more sense to support all Windows devices instead of only a subsection of it?
There’s also minimal effort required on their part, since the building part is less likely to be an issue and they already have done it for Mac.
I bought the stick of ram, im going to use the stick of ram
tbh i would cry if roblox makes a full ARM port for windows and maintains it and still refuses to touch linux at all
