Resizing multiple attachments breaks the scale tool

Hello, so recently I was creating attachments for my tool.

Here is the thing, I accidentally tried resizing (instead of moving) multiple attachments, which of course wouldn’t work since attachments can’t be resized… But then, the scale tool broke completely…

Here are some screenshots and the steps on how to reproduce this.

Although this isn’t something that will happen often, there should be at least some warning in the output, and something that prevents the users from breaking their scale tools.

(To fix the scale tool, all you have to do is to restart studio.)

Hey MatkeFTW,
Thanks for the report! I can replicate this issue, and we will work on resolving it!

i wonder if it got fixed or not, because today im scalling as usual holding shift to scale both faces at same time but this breaks the scaling tool

Same thing with doing control to scale, I cannot even unselect the part

Here you can see multiple handles, the scaling is stuck

Same issue here, only way to fix seems to be enabling pivots.

Hi Tom,

So are you saying that if you enable the Pivot Beta, you can not reproduce your problem?

Hi there, @Evercreeper and @TimTsuki, can you please tell me, if you enable the Pivot Beta feature, can you still reproduce the problem? If so, can you provide some steps from start to finish that might help me reproduce it?

I have also been having this issue and I can confirm by activating pivot editor it does fix the issue However I have the pivot editor deactivated because I personally don’t like it. Is there going to be a fix to the legacy tools rather than forcing users to use the new pivot editor?

I have some questions for you because I am pretty sure this has to do with pressing/releasing the cmd/control key for scaling about the center/pivot, but I still cannot quite reproduce the issue:

– do you tend to keep the cmd/control key pressed when making new selections?
– how about when you switch between tools?
– can you think try paying careful attention to how your use of the cmd/control key in combination with mouse pressed, selection, or changing tools might might cause the problem to occur?

I had the pivot editor off, and it seems to not matter how I select the part, it always errored when using pressing control. Holding shift for equal scaling works fine.

My steps to reproduce is: Enter a game in studio, select a part, hold control to scale and it breaks immediately.

Happened in both team create and solo sessions.

It was fixed by turning on the pivot editor, which I like but I had turned off a few months ago because I didn’t need the rotation precision and it was messing up the animation editor. After turning on the beta and turning it off, my scaling works again.

edit: fixed tense, it is now FIXED for me thats what i meant

Yes, sorry about that. For those that had cmd/control scale broken with the pivot editor OFF, I have just pushed through a change that fixes that problem.
