Yes, I much rather have a message system on the forums. I rarely check my email, the best way currently to contact me would be twitter/skype/steam, I do check my roblox messages, but I’m not on that actual roblox site that much throughout the day. Having a central place for devs to contact each other would be ideal instead of jumping through various means of social media or email to contact them.
The difference between creating a new email address and creating a new inbox is that email is a lot more flexible. You can make a mail server redirect all the messages it receives for an email address to another email address; this is possible with gmail and with many websites that offer mail redirection.
I don’t see what’s absurd with the idea of moving this forum to the main ROBLOX website and merging it with the existing forum system. This would mean we’d have one less forum system to be used to, and the staff would not have to maintain one more website, with servers, configuration, etc. If the current forum system on the ROBLOX website isn’t good enough for their needs for this forum, they can simply switch to a better forum system on the main website, and there’ll be no reason to put the developer forum there. I don’t see where the problem is, neither do I see why this is “absurd”.
Concerning having a separate inbox on this forum just so only people who are invited to it can send you messages, that seems like a really silly idea to me. It would require less work for ROBLOX to add basic filtering functionality to ROBLOX messages than to develop a complete message system for this forum, and it would be of much more use because it could be more flexible and more people could use it. If you want specific people to be able to contact you, you can already use email anyway, and there are tools for email that far exceed any flexibility you could wish to have.
