Roblox should introduce tutorials to devforum members when they get the reply and topic button with enough reading time

I been lately seeing topics that are obviously in the wrong category, for example this Can i upload a game with the banned content removed? - Forum Help / Forum Questions - Developer Forum | Roblox. The OP there was asking like can he upload a game as long as the banned content of it was removed. This is suppose to be in development discussion at least I think it is suppose to be, not in forum questions. Its pretty self-explanatory that the topic belongs to a different category. That is why Roblox should introduce a required tutorial to devforum members when they get the reply and new topic permissions when they get enough reading time. Edit: And we don’t want to have to read the huge page of rules that from what I am trying to remember doesn’t even apply to everything, only the categories and it includes other rules which we don’t want to read too. So the tutorial thing would help so much.

If Roblox is able to address this issue, it would improve my experience using the forum because then I wouldn’t have to see topics that are obviously in the wrong category. And I wouldn’t have to waste my time reading alot of the rules for the dev forum that not even all of the rules are for the categories here.

Actually this doesnt require a tutorial, this requires you to READ THE FREAKING RULES BEFORE POSTING HOLY.

Ahem, basically they just need somehow to make new users read the rules, of course, most new users still wont read the rules. Why? The same reason people dont read the tos. Laziness or something like that, I dunno know lol.

Point is this wouldnt actually solve anything, people who would read the rules will read the rules, people who wont, well, they still wont.

In summary, I dont think this needs to be added, as it wont really change much.

thus concludes todays controversial opinion, tune in next time fore more :D

Yeah, the devforum thing requires you to see the whole huge page of rules that not even all of them is for categories at least I think it is I trying to remember, which actually wastes our time which also is one of the reasons why the category introduction tutorial feature should be added.

I still think otherwise, when you go to post in a category, it gives you the rules right then and there, theres simply no need for a tutorial unless Im misunderstanding something.

Like the introduction is right there when you start writing a post, just read it lol.

It doesn’t even help, it needs you to give the whole page screen (not device screen) with a tutorial on how to use the categories and research to make sure that your topic is in the right category before posting it.

please elaborate.

again, it shows you how to use the category when you start posting in it, there isnt a need for a tutorial. Anybody who can read should be able to figure out the rules when they read the the text that pops up by default when you select a category (other then #development-discussion the rules for that are wild), after reading said rules and you conclude it shouldnt belong there, you look back at the list and figure out which one it goes in.

Im just saying if people took 2 minutes to read the stuff that pops up when they create a post this wouldnt be an issue.

Imma use this screenshot as a visual elaboration of what I meant.

Plus the tutorial would be way better because people wouldn’t actually ignore it then.

Unless the tutorial is going to require you to type out an essay about all the categories and what the rules are, whats stop the average joe from doing what they do with the TOS? Aka going past the entire thing, pressing the ok button and moving on?

I still doubt people will actually read a tutorial, and it just feels like a feature that isnt required, as you can just read the thing that pops up when you create a post. If you choose to ignore it, well thats on you, you now have to learn the hard way.

I’d just realized that I’ve receive access to post on the DevForum, it was really a shocking discovery as I’ve hoped to receive access for a while now and they haven’t even notified me. Really excited to receive access though. This is actually my first ever post on the DevForum.

Easy solution: read the pinned topics on each category

Roblox has enough things to do that are much more important than this. The devforum is supposed to be geared towards a more matured audience and these individuals are expected to read the pinned topics before posting. The creation of a tutorial would be a waste of time for Roblox engineers and they’ve just got much better things to do

Whenever you make a new post in a category it always clearly states the rules and/or how to format a post.

This isn’t a case of needing a tutorial, this is a case of users being intentionally dense. (Either that, or the fact that the person behind the keyboard will one day be old enough to vote should scare you.)

- What is shown when posting in #forum-help:forum-questions
- What is shown when posting in #development-discussion

The OP on that linked post deliberately ignored the displayed instructions and should in turn be laughed at for the consequences of their own actions.

TL;DR - This is a non-issue.

Edit:

You have to actively erase out the rules displayed to you when creating a post. There is zero excuse.

Great, some dude used the wrong category for their topic again.
Animation editor overrides object manipulation tools - Forum Help / Forum Bugs - Developer Forum | Roblox But he put Forum Help > Forum Bugs as the category, bruh forum bugs isn’t for bugs in games, its for bugs on the developer forum. This is why Roblox needs to introduce a tutorial to devforum members when the reply and new topic button is enabled to them.

How many times do we need to tell you :sob:

There is one when you create the post and select a category, all the rules are laid out in front of you, if that doesnt work idk what will :sob:

Roblox doesnt need a tutorial, it needs people who read the rules that are right in front of them that are incredibly hard to miss.

But the tutorial thing will grab their attention though.

Unless its a game or they got some kind of valuable reward, most people are just gonna skip it.
If they cant read the rules that are right in front of them, that they manually have to delete, I dont think a tutorial is gonna help that much.
