Roblox Studio keeps using my integrated video card. Why?

Apparently certain apps, including Roblox Studio now, started using my laptop’s integrated video card (the Intel one) instead of my dedicated video card (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050) out of nowhere.

This brings up the following error because it isn’t using the video card it should.

Despite the fact I have forced the app to use my dedicated video card, it’s still saying in the diagnostics tab at the settings that it’s using my integrated video card.

This bug honestly started just now but I can’t tell for sure because I usually work on my desktop. It occurs every time I open up a game in Roblox Studio. Reproduction is done by simply opening the app, but this may only work on laptops or desktops with multiple video cards and I’m not even sure why it happens.

Details (e.g specs)

Dedicated Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050
Integrated Video Card: Intel(R) HD Graphics 630
(Both cards are up-to-date.)

Detailed specifications found here.

If anybody knows a solution, please let me know!

Had a similar issue with my omen a while back. I was able to fix it by going to the nvidia control panel and selecting my GPU in the 3d settings on the Roblox Studio program. Even if it was already enabled, i select the GPU again and hit apply. Reboot may be required.

Can’t guarantee that it works but let me know if it does.

Unfortunately that still didn’t work… :frowning:

Is your laptop running on battery or some economic mode by any chance?

I haven’t edited these settings and it’s charging so I’m expecting it to use the strongest…
Did notice it was set to ‘better performance’ so I just put it to ‘best’. Let’s see what this does…

Edit: Nope, that’s not it either… :weary:

Go to the Settings app > System > Display > Graphics settings. Then choose “Classic app” and navigate to the RobloxPlayerBeta.exe and RobloxStudioBeta.exe.

Example:

Set power saving for integrated graphics and high performance for dedicated graphics.

Hi @ShapeDemBricks, the graphics driver message may be incorrect in this case since it’s having trouble opening some key files. It looks like that error might be caused by a corrupt Studio installation. Can you try uninstalling and re-installing Studio on that machine?

I already did that @ChromeEight … It was unsuccessful. Thanks for the help though!

@Qiblox Certainly! I’ll give that a try. :slight_smile:

Edit: That did it!!
Thank you so much. Feel free to move or close this thread.
