The way I’ve always seen it done on other kid-safe platforms is to move the pointer finger together with the middle finger. The pointer finger still moves on its own, but when the middle finger is less then halfway curled while the pointer finger is more then halfway curled, the gesture system takes control of the pointer finger and fully straightens it. Makes it prohibitively difficult to middle finger, because you need to turn your hand in a very specific and very uncomfortable way to make your middle finger point outward; and even then the gesture can be mistaken for a more innocent attempt to move through menus.

Would be nice for even some implementation of finger tracking, this could be a good solution as well.
