Roblox won't Install/Launch after Windows Insider Build 26052

Have to wait a new Windows update until it should be fixed.

You should post this in bug report! We, fellow blind developers can’t help with anything internal like that.

I’m currently facing the same issue! Just after updating to 26052

Both of the versions, the Player and the UWP crash on start.

I guess I’ll have to clean-install Windows to a non-Insider build. :disappointed_relieved:

This is the same for me besides the installing part. I can install RobloxPlayerLauncher.exe but I can’t launch it. I get the blue buffering icon above my cursor but after a few seconds the buffer goes away and it doesn’t open. I went on the Windows Store to see if I could launch it there from the time being. What happened then was it opened up and I was able to see the loading screen. But before it went to the login page the app immediately closed.

I tried a lot of suggestions. I turned off and on my pc, I uninstalled Roblox completely by removing all the files from Local in appdata and even the x86 file. I tried removing the roblox company and roblox keys from the registry which backfired and made things a tad bit worst for me. And I slept hoping the problem would fix itself. This is the only post related to my issue. This all happened from a windows update too which is weird because most gaming apps/platforms don’t have this kind of issue.

I don’t have any way to backup or restore because my pc had it off by default it’s new. And I can’t factory reset either for some reason it’s pretty weird the button is just unhighlighted. Am I not going to be able to play a Roblox game ever again?

Windows version is 26052 confirmed

I’d like to note that this bug is still unresolved, and there is no solution yet.

So it is confirmed to be a Microsoft issue and not an issue on my part. The only two ways to fix this issue could be to wait out the next update that would (hopefully) fix this issue, or to just reinstall Windows entirely and opt out of the Insider program.

I opted out, reset my pc completely even chose cloud download which added more gb to my data but installs a copy of windows from the web. My issue is still unresolved, and it’s been about 2 days since I haven’t been able to test my own games publicly. It appears the only way to get out of this issue is to just wait.

I am having the same issue. I even reset my pc to try to force myself out of the insider program and I’m still in it. I’ve been in the unenrollment queue for almost 2 years now. I think the best solution is to just wait for the next update when it gets fixed and pray that you get out of the the insider program.

Same issue here, also cannot launch. Here’s something from the log files I got when I tried a reinstall. I noticed someone else had this log too.

2024-02-14T12:16:43.311Z,16.311333,4468,6,Critical [FLog::DesktopInstaller] failed to start client App: “C:\Users\myusername\AppData\Local\Roblox\Versions\version-f2b5c592c03b4183\RobloxPlayerBeta.exe” -app, erorr code: 0, wait result: 258

Studio works fine, though

Yeah waiting seems like the best option though I do feel like Roblox could do something about this if they did a little investigating on what was in the Microsoft 26052 update. This could even prevent it from happening in the future if they did something at least.

A new build released, 10.0.26058.1000 in the Dev channel, anyone installing this to fix the issue?

Nevermind, it still crashes. Still confirm in this current version.

Yep, same here. I will try every new update and see. It’s really impacting my development.

Can confirm it happens on 26058, microsoft still hasn’t fixed it.

Do not use WIndows Insider builds for the Roblox client:

Well the thing is that it is almost impossible to just switch. If you are in the dev channel of the windows insider program (which I have been stuck in for almost 2 years), it doesn’t allow you to switch the version. And in order to even go in the queue for unerollment you need to be in the beta channel. I have tried reseting my computer and it has done nothing. I would need to completely reinstall windows or wait months.

I really hope roblox does something about this because joining games for market research is a big part of my development process.

Unfortunately, it would be too much strain of the engineers to constantly test bleeding edge changes from Microsoft, it’s a complete waste of resources when most users are on stable branch of Windows.
The only thing you can do is to reinstall Windows.

I just reinstalled windows and it works. I had to backup my files on icloud and on a external ssd. I do still think roblox needs to do something about this because a lot of users are left in the dark not knowing why their roblox isn’t launching. Roblox should at least have a prompt or error that comes up and explains the situation with a link to instructions on how to fix it.

It now works again in Windows Insider Build 26058 after Roblox gave me an update.
