Micro-transactions are different to normal in game purchases. Micro-transactions are usually required to progress any further in the game (think something like simulator games) while game purchases are just there for a perk or cosmetic.
It’s so if your game gets removed for whatever reason we have an easy way of contacting you; it also provides better security.
Should be up again in a few hours or so. Thanks for pointing it out.
Funny you asked, we are working on a thing called RoCate TestLab, where developers can show off games they are working on, show a tech demo, etc, and then get feedback from the community.
Sounds like the thing for me! I don’t really develop games, but tech things. Any idea of when this will be released?
Another thing, it appears you can report yourself.
Mid next month. The current system doesn’t have a way to review games so we need to build that.
If you try to report yourself it won’t actually go through. I will make sure to remove that button though.
It works! I guess…?
Yeah sometimes the website doesn’t even load anything at all, and when it does, barely any of the categories are filled. If you get those 2 things fixed, then yeah it’ll work just fine then and might actually help people. I don’t really develop websites so I don’t have any suggestions in that regard.
There is a 5 second cache, that’s why it takes a bit to load sometimes. As I said before we posted here so we could get more devs interested and get more games on RoCate.
I wouldn’t say it does as I only see e-Mail and password are required instead of verification using roblox account every time.
My roblox account has 2FA and pin.
So isn’t it more secure then a just e-Mail and password?
All in-game purchases count as microtransactions. What you’re referring to are paywalls or pay-to-win or “freemium” (otherwise misleadingly labeled as “free to play”)
Oh, sorry. I’ll make sure to update that to say paywalls instead of micro-transactions
I would recommend adding an asterisk on to it and defining micro-transactions below it so people know what you mean. I was confused on this too when I saw it.
This seems like a very good idea if you can do it properly. I’ll make sure to check it out when it’s released.
I think the game browser could benefit from not needing you to click on a game in order to see its information. Clicking on a game and returning to the browser takes me about 10 seconds. If I had to propose a solution, make it so it displays game information when you hover over its icon.
What information would you like to see?
A description of the game, active players, just general information.
Really cool website and tough issue to combat but from the way I see it, it ruins discovery of newer games, I’d say that you have to find a way to attract people for the simplicity yet modern features that are BETTER then Roblox. Getting game information through Roblox API’s can be done by anyone so thats one think to think about.
