Roblox Safety systems scan every UGC asset for policy violation before it gets published. This system is a combination of our scaled machine learning models and human moderators. We know no system is perfect.
We know how important moderation is to our community of players and creators. If a user believes any content or behavior goes against our policies, we have tools available for them to report and if verified, we can use to update our ML models. We continue to scan our catalog to ensure it reflects our platform policies.
Looking to the future, we are exploring how we can bring age restrictions to UGC content much like we do for experiences.
Going forward will Roblox take an approach of ensuring it’s users have a chance to correct their behavior if Roblox determines them to be in breach of ToS, rather then banning them at the same time with no opportunity to understand what they did wrong, assuming said breach is not egregious?
We have been thrilled to see our community’s enthusiasm for platform-wide events, and can’t wait for you to experience The Takeover starting this Friday. We love RB Battles, and will continue to explore ways to make it easier for our community to run similar events. At this time however, we don’t have any plans to fund community-created events.
Are there plans to raise the EditableMesh memory limits? I want to use such functionality for the block grid in a mining game, but even with FixedSize meshes, I can only go up to 30MB of usage (per the developer console) before getting errors.
First we want to note that we do not plan to delete content from the platform as part of our work on the mandatory Maturity & Compliance Questionnaire. We will make some experiences unplayable if the questionnaire is not accurately filled out by September 30th.
That said, while it is very likely many experiences will be moved to unplayable, we are actively working to preserve as many legacy experiences as possible and are taking significant steps to achieve this.
We plan to review and preserve all experiences with 1,000 or more lifetime visits after September 30th. Additionally, after September 30th, users can request the preservation of unrated experiences that no longer have active creators; these requests will be prioritized by volume.
We recognize the opportunity in music licensing, though it’s complex. Currently, creators can upload original works or use commercial tracks with ISRCs from trusted distributors like Distrokid, AMA, and Monstercat, which account for hundreds of millions of listening hours.
We aim to scale how creators partner with authorized artists/labels while reducing the likelihood of infringing music. We’re looking into building a mechanism for labels to authorize approved music in creator experiences, as well as a more self-serve model for licensed tracks. We are still exploring how independent artists can directly upload ISRC-based tracks as well. For now, trusted distributors (like Distrokid) are the option.
Many games that were taken down were put back up by the same creators under different names or even copied by others and uploaded. Also many of these places are just 5+. Is Roblox monitoring this kind of content and how. Also, any idea when we can have our chat back in the Middle East? or if possible at least allow us to read the chats
Lately there have been a few incidents like Possible Exploit in Roblox's AI Moderation System Causing False Terminations That causes both new and also veteran creators to potentially lose their entire accounts and livelihoods because of abusable features with the AI moderation. What steps is Roblox taking to prevent this for the future?
with a Players:BanAsync option, Roblox claims to be able to let us ban a player with alt account detection, which is fantastic, and is exactly what we wanted.
Me and @heedical have tested this, and it often doesn’t ban at all, or bans over 6 months later, all in all it’s extremely ineffective, especially in games where the consequences from exploiters are immediate, such as shooters.
The Hyperion team has told us time and time again that they have their own, ready for deployment, but that it isn’t being used, why is that, and will you commit to using it in the future?
We are deeply aware of the challenges of changing existing experiences and are approaching this problem with care and respect for our creators and users. Our plan is to put creators in control of their creations and make:
no changes to existing experiences. New abilities can be inserted in Studio if the experience creator chooses.
abilities default ON in all templates opened in Studio, and creators can toggle / customize as desired.
Will we ever get a new AlphaMode for SurfaceAppearance that uses Alpha Clip? The current Transparency mode which is more akin to a low quality Alpha Blend can produce undesirable results for foliage. (e.g. very noticeable gradient banding)
Similar to how the Ban API and Alt Account Detection works, could the functionality for Introducing Roblox Communitiesbe strengthened for better detection and prevention of alternative accounts being used to bypass the removal of users from the community through the ban feature?
Nick, is there a reason that games will be made unavailable instead of being locked into 18+ mode temporarily until if/when it’s creator takes the questionairre? Could “preserve” be clarified?
