Salt terrain looks really odd?

O_O

  1. Can you post screenshots of a big block of salt from top & side? (use Add tool in Studio with Cube shape and a big radius to make one)
  2. Does it happen to Limestone? Pavement? Leafy Grass?

What’s the laptop specs/OS?

I don’t fully understand what is happening here - seems like potentially the sky reflections are busted but object reflections are working fine. Can you check if this happens in Studio, and if it does post a screenshot of water and a part with Reflectance=1?

Little off topic, but it looks like my pants that I wear.

This problem occurred before I got Windows 10 as well. I haven’t played much on my laptop recently but I think it was worse with Win7 and Vista. Seems to be fine in studio. If there is no easy fix for this, don’t worry about it. I know I am definitely a minority especially since I’m running Roblox on such an old and outdated laptop. Everything with water is fine on my desktop PC.

Yeah, sure!

1. Salt in studio:

In-game:

After more testing I found this…
STUDIO:

Limestone, Pavement, Leafy Grass and salt!
IN-GAME:

Yet others (water, grass, sandstone) seem to be fine:

So strange!

It appears the new materials all materials do not render correctly in thumbnails either:

What you’re describing is a different bug, a fix will ship after NY:

Could you upload this to ROBLOX? I wanna see this for myself :stuck_out_tongue:

Sure

The odd thing is… it doesn’t happen for everyone as I stated in one of my posts above!

Can confirm that it is fine for me.

Yeah it is not happening for me on any quality setting.

Also Win 10, i5-4960K, 750Ti.
On the most up to date ROBLOX builds as far as I can tell.

So strange!

Does it happen for you in client on all quality levels?

Do you have “Graphics Mode” in Studio Rendering settings set to Automatic?

This is kinda bizarre.

Yes [quote=“zeuxcg, post:18, topic:31964”]

Tried it with Automatic and manually setting it, and its always fine in studio!

So strange!

Hmm. It just occurred to me that the texture files are not shared between Studio and Client and it’s theoretically possible they are corrupted…

Can you try:

  1. Removing all files from C:\Users[your username]\AppData\Local\Roblox\Downloads
  2. Uninstalling ROBLOX Studio
  3. Installing ROBLOX Studio again?

Hey, sure! Just a quick question: Studio is the one that’s working, so are you sure yuou want me to try this with ROBLOX Studio rather than the ROBLOX Player? Or shall I just completely reinstall both?

Try the player first, if only deinstalling that doesn’t work then try the other as well.

Actually just do both anyway

Also make sure to delete all files in the way zeuxcg mentions when deinstalling (the step 1)

Yeah, sorry, I meant to suggest uninstalling a Player; due to how our install process works you probably should just uninstall both.

No problem!

Right, I did what you said and the textures are now fine in the ROBLOX player! It sounds likely they got corrupted but just not sure how!!

Alright, phew. We’ll never know the answer but oh well

We do know that our installer really needs to validate file contents more thoroughly - not the first time we’ve seen spurious corruption. We’ll keep that in mind for the future.
