What you’re describing is a different bug, a fix will ship after NY:

Terrain not rendering textures in thumbnail

Yeah I think this bug resurfaced after LOD was implemented - it has a bit of a different update structure which may not guarantee that terrain textures are loaded in time for when thumbnail is generated. I’ll look into fixing this (fix will ship after NY).
