Script Editor - Semantic Highlighting and Temporary Tabs are now in Beta!

I am not sure why but when using dark theme, I can’t get any of the same presets as shown in the pictures (with the beta enabled). Some of them are similar, but then random things are green or completely different. I tried all the color presets, am I looking in the wrong place? I was trying to use the 1st dark theme preset.

Edit: Even the light theme is messed up compared to the photos, does anyone have the color values of the presets in the picture I can use to change it manually?

Others have stated their feelings on Temporary Tabs already but I wanted to add my biggest complaint with them:

I am unable to click on a script and then press ctrl+C to copy it, because clicking it opens it and then I am copying no selection from the source not the object in the DataModel. This slows my workflow and makes it feel significantly more cluncky.

I like the idea of temporary tabs, but not the execution and I wish I had more solutions to pose on how I thought it could be fixed.

I am so happy that this update is finally in beta! I have been waiting so long for this!! Super excited to see the super cool color themes that come out of this. Now the hard part will be finding a good color theme. Anyway, this update is just phenomenal; keep up the good work Roblox! :roblox: :roblox_light:

I like the highlighting however, I am having the same issue as @TecmagDiams where the Temporary Tabs are more of a hassle than an improvement. I don’t think single-clicking a script should open it. It’s slowing down my workflow - unsure about others.

Hi @darkmodeonn,

I think this new beta features are great ! I just have a quick question : How do change the theme ?

hello i am using the current script editor update right now and an issue i have is that the “default” preset is wrong i think because its all black image

like, the original one when i turn off script editor option in beta features list it goes back to original

so i think that the “defualy” option in the studio setting here should also be equal to the one it was originaly before the update, becaus i dont want to redo all the colors, please fix. i think it should be a easy fix for u guys caus all u guys have to do is change colors for me

i dont wana reset all settings cos then i will have to set all my other settings and i dont want that because i already have specific settings

I’m having the same problem as you are.

The ability to disable the temporary tabs is a real 10/10 from me, thank you, very cool.

Also, bracket coloring is also Very Cool. Any chance we could see the logical operators (and, or, and not) either get their own coloring or be highlighted as operators? They’re highlighted as keywords right now, which is technically correct, but a bunch of themes highlight word operators (in as few languages as they occur) the same as normal ones, so it’s worth considering.

Not quite sure if you already got your problem solved, but you can disable them by following these steps:

Studio Settings > Studio > Script Editor > Enable Temporary Script Tabs

I am having a similar issue, but it is a bright green rather than black.

Scrolling through tabs is very slow now. It takes ~ half a second to switch script tabs and when I quickly scroll my mouse wheel to get to the viewport tab it will only scroll one tab at a time, this is very annoying UX

I hate this update and I want to get old theme before…

Just change the colors back using settings

Where is the list of my old settings located? I don’t know every specific RGB value for every property by heart

There isn’t a list of the old RGB settings but just switch it back to the default

And set the TextColor RGB to the other values

You could try to use google or browse the forum because some people have restored their studio colors back to normal and posted screen shots of the default RGB Values

Wish there was a real Custom preset that they maintain where new options are set to whatever option they were previously under. I shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to continue working, especially since it wouldn’t let me open new studios without forcing an update.

so is there a way that I can get away with not re-typing 30 color3 values every time my studio settings get wiped, because I’ve had to set all my script editor colors at least 20 times since the feature was released, and the plugin I once made to automate the task has mysteriously broken (Haven’t looked into exactly why yet), and now all my colors magically changed to a new theme while I was away from my computer

is there somewhere I can save a config? I hope for a future where I can use the theme I’m used to using without having to waste time re-setting it up ever again

There seems to be a sudden change to highlighting in lime green for function calls and dictionary indexes items. This is practically unreadable on the default theme.

The same thing happened for me, but object properties are lime green instead of function calls. I have tried reinstalling, re-enabling and disabling the beta feature and still have the lime green. Can’t find the actual rgb values either so I just turn it off completely. Kinda sad because the new themes looked really nice.

I really hate this change and it makes it unbearable to code with. PLEASE add a classic theme for syntax.
