Thanks to @TimeFrenzied for pointing out a crucial detail—this issue specifically occurs when the movement mode is set to “Click to Move.” This behavior is unintended and should not happen.
Issue Description
Shift Lock no longer functions in experiences where it is normally supported when the movement mode is set to “Click to Move.” Pressing Shift does not toggle Shift Lock, the camera remains unchanged, and character movement is unaffected.
Reproduction Steps
Join any Roblox experience that allows Shift Lock.
Go to Settings > Movement Mode and set it to Click to Move.
Enable Shift Lock in Settings > Shift Lock Switch (ON).
Press Shift to toggle Shift Lock mode.
Observe that Shift Lock does not activate, and the camera remains in its default state.
Expected Behavior
Pressing Shift should lock the camera behind the character and adjust movement accordingly, regardless of the selected movement mode.
Thanks for your report!
I can’t reproduce this, Shift-Lock work in Natural Disaster Survival - Roblox as expected. Do you have more details about your hardware / setup?
I do have more details. I previously mentioned my Roblox version, but if it helps, I can provide my system information through the private message linked to this report!
Bumping to state that I am still experiencing this problem. And since @MetaVars didn’t respond to my reply due to “inactivity”, I decided to update the PM with more information
CC: @Iron_Legion — Hopefully, the information shared will be useful in finding the root of the problem and fixing it!
Hello, thanks for reporting this issue! After investigation, we have determined that this is working as intended. Here is the reasoning: Using click to move rotates the character to face the destination. Shift lock rotates the player to face the direction of the camera. These two systems would be fighting for control of the player’s orientation, so they are incompatible. Let us know if anything else is needed.
