Software Recommendations for 3D Model Texturing

I’ve been modeling a bunch and i want to know what i could use for texturing 3d models, i’ve been using GIMP but the textures usually come out low quality.

What do you recommend me using?

–also it would be kinda cool to know what the developers of lethal company used for texturing 3d models

Substance Painter. It’s the industry leader for a reason, other alternatives are 3dCoat or Quixel Mixer (i havent seen anyone use this personally but im sure its great)

this gives me around ~1 fps when texturing so I can’t actually use this,

and of course it is substance painter, you just have to sell a kidney for it sometimes

Your best option would be to learn these two programs.

Blender is a versatile program and is incredibly useful to create dynamic, procedural textures using nodes, or painting textures that can be applied to any 3d model you throw at it.

Material Maker is a free alternative to Substance Painter. also screw adobe

It would also be best to learn some photo editing software, so here are some free ones that I personally use to create and edit textures.

Procreate is good for 3d model texturing but you gotta pay $30 for it (one time pay)

i use it a lot and it is on mobile!!!

thank you guys for the responses im gonna check out some of the sites and see how work!

whoops i forgot to add a couple more resources that i use along with this. here they are:

DO NOT USE THE NORMAL MAP GENERATOR IN MATERIALIZE

It is broken and generates the wrong type of normal map and you CANNOT change it, so use the website below instead.

You can make quick and easy PBR maps, and tile any textures with Materialize.
https://www.boundingboxsoftware.com/materialize/

I use this website to generation normal maps for PBR textures.

MAKE SURE YOU SET THESE VALUES IN THE WEBSITE TO GENERATE THE CORRECT TYPE OF NORMAL MAP

Here’s a PBR concrete damage texture I made using paint.net, Materialize, NormalMap-Online, and a random photo off the internet.
