Studio did not save progress. Is there a way to get it back?

I’m not sure exactly if this is the right place to post this in but I need some assistance, regardless. I was working on something in roblox studio earlier today and, like per usual, I saved and exited out when all was said and done. I decided to go back on now to work on it some more, only to find out that it didn’t save at all. I have gone through the auto saves/auto recovery thing but yet, none was made even though I have that feature on in studio settings. What’s even stranger to me is the fact that I uploaded pictures in studio and it is still saved there but my progress is not! I am not sure what to do at this point or if there is a way to get back the data I have lost. Any help is greatly appreciated because nothing like this has happened to me before

Edit: For anyone coming to this post from the future, I ended up having to restart what failed to save. It does really suck but there is really nothing that can be done at this point in time. A lesson, I guess, make sure to double/triple check that things are saved because sometimes data can be lost.

When you say you went through auto saves did you check files? Cause you might find it there. (sorry if you don’t find it :frowning: )

I’m sorry. I don’t think I understand what you mean by files. If you’re referring to first opening studio then going to file, advanced and open auto saves, then the only recent one in there is from a few days ago

oh I see, were you working on a group game or was this a personal game because its happened to me with group games where everything I made doesn’t save

Just a personal game. I thankfully haven’t had any problems with team create but I’m sorry that happened to you  I believe I read through a forum post you either made or commented on because I wanted to research if that problem could be solved. It’s so frustrating, to be honest. I had worked on a few scripts, did some remote events and even built a lot in the game and I am beginning to think I may have to start over :frowning:

What happened wasn’t too much of a deal just a few lampposts I designed but your project had a lot of stuff so its a big loss all I can say tbh is that in the future to make sure this doesn’t happen again always republish to roblox or manually save the file

I feel like a loss is a loss no matter how great it is, to be honest. I’m sure your designs probably took a lot of time and effort and it really sucks that that happened to you. And the thing that frustrates me is that I did save before I exited. It even said in the bottom left corner that it saved so I am just really confused as to why progress was lost. Studio did an update after I opened it back up so maybe that could be the reason why? But I am honestly not too sure.

Oh I think you might be right I think its the update too cause I just realized I lost my build right after the update so that’s quite interesting (I also crashed lol)

Omg, really? I also had a problem before it updated as well where none of my files would open so now I’m starting to think the update is correlated with some data loss or something

I also think its not really a safe time to be developing rn since there have been lots of updates to the studio recently

I’ll definitely keep that in mind for the future. And honestly, if I can’t find a solution by tomorrow, I’ll just restart but save every like few seconds. Catch me having thousands of versions of my game lol! But hey, at least I’ll have the security of my save data. Thanks for replying and helping out! At least I know the update may be the reason for the problem.

This happened to me too, but progress was too long to quit so willingly. After looking a bit more carefully, I found Roblox has another folder where it stores autosaves:

C:\Users\YOUR_USER\AppData\Local\Roblox\RobloxStudio\AutoSaves

I found mine here
