Sunsetting Studio support for Windows 7 and 8.1

RIP windows 7 users, one of the great OS, but not windows 8, if your using windows 8 then what’s wrong with you?
Never sunset windows 10 please until Microsoft stops putting bloatware on windows, windows 11 is full of bloatware…

I like windows 8.X an idk why.
Anyways they are most likely going to sunset Windows 10 support on 2030.

let’s keep it professional on the forum, i’m not sure if ur a troller or you actually have some real problems in the head but it’s completely unnecessary lol

Personal opinion, but I really don’t care about “low-end” (for lack of a better word) devices such as something with 2GB if I’m making a high-quality game. I’d probably lock it to PC only in the first place if we’re talking about phones. This recommendation of targeting low-end devices kinda kills most games.

That being said, it still forces way too much optimization onto the developer, as stated in the original post you quoted.

This is still all personal, just saying it’s very limiting and pretty offensive to anyone who wants to make a serious project.

Did you open command prompt and write 500 lines of code to Send this message? /s

??

I didn’t?

-someone whos never used vista

ive compiled modern programs to run on vista for the hell of it, java 21 needed a SINGULAR compiler flag to work (minus some networking stuff i couldnt be bothered to fix)

give me a good reason why vista is good.

can run 90% of Windows 7 RTM’s software (with that one compiler flag change if the author doesnt do it)
way more stable than 7 RTM
its literally just a prettier version of 7 RTM that is more stable and uses less space
also the last version you can install server 2008 updates on to get support until 2027 iirc

yeah of course a final release is more stable than a release to manufacturing version
(honestly i was going to talk about the poor driver support, but it was not windows vista’s fault)

you do realize windows versions are RTM until they get a “Service Pack”
Windows 7 got its only one in late 2011. People hailed Windows 7 as the “best thing ever” in 2009 throughout mid 2011. That Service Pack mainly just lumped all the updates for 7 RTM into one and served as a requirement for new updates. 7 was still decently unstable with it too (ive had more crashes on 7 than i have had on Vista and 8.1 combined, and i used to main 8.1)

for me it was the opposite, windows 7 was more stable than windows 8 and vista for me.

sorry to say windows 10 end of life is in 2025

Because, as each new version comes out, it’s ALWAYS worse than the last one. The next one is going to and WILL be worse. It’s almost as if it’s policy, because they KNOW thousands of people are going to mindlessly “upgrade” despite the fact that… if nobody did, they’d actually have to put effort into making a GOOD operating system! I doubt there’s a lot of people who realize that.

you probably don’t understand that not everyone can get new computers and are limited to older versions of Windows

True, the laat year I upgraded my PC was 2010.
My components probably won’t even boot win 10. All I need is RAM and a new processor.
