Adding more context. This also affects other items (especially valuable ones) such as Darkheart & Dual Venomshanks, and have previously been reported several times with no luck on it being fixed yet.
A quick solution would be to re-upload a recolored image for each of these items, as they use SpecialMesh’s VertexColor property, from a class which hasn’t been as supported as newer MeshParts for quite some time.
Here’s a list of more broken items that come to mind:
Even though Gears are discontinued, this issue has been fixed with other items, such as Doombringer’s Doombringer. VertexColor isn’t supported in 3D view.
Thank you for the report. There’s an active effort going on right now to add vertex color support in our 3D renderer. We can’t say with certainty when this update will be deployed, but this issue is on our radar. We believe this will be a better solution than updating each individual asset, as it will solve the issue once and for all.
Thanks for your patience while we make this happen.
Is there anything going on behind the scenes about particles/transparency not showing well in the 3d renderer?
Yeah it’d be nice to have this in the backlog as well while we’re on about the renderer. Some particles actually seem to refuse to render at all if they’re not in front of your character (as an example, the fire in Lost Souls Headrow).
For the lifetime of most of these hats, they rendered perfectly until some time in the last few years.
