Thoughts on Roblox adding voice chat for all 13+ users?

Hello, I have heard that Roblox is adding voice chat for all 13+ users and would like to know any feedback the community has. Personally I do not think this is the best approach because most people could make alts and make it be 13+ leading roblox to have 7 year olds using voice chat.

Second thing I have found out is that Roblox is removing voice chat from private servers. I understand that people can do certain things with voice chat in vip servers but if anything let us still chat in vip servers. Maybe even add an option to settings so parents can say how long you have before voice chat becomes disabled for downtime.

Any thoughts would be great!

oh if kids were able to use roblox vc by lying about their age and use it some drunk adult would come out and go “STFU YOU NASTY CHILD”

It would be very bad,

If a kid heard about Roblox VC that is like 5 years old, they’re gonna use their parents ID’s to get voice chat. Which is VERY VERY bad.

Gonna be real honest, the id verification requirement for voice chat was it’s peak. A good handful of people had it, and there weren’t too many little kids.

Now with reduced requirements, it’s worse. I think voice chat’s current state is the best case scenario.

The RTC had posted a tweet about it, which linked where an official Roblox staff member actually stated that it would be rolling out and that it would be disabled in private servers.

I honestly don’t know if it was actually confirmed to be for ALL 13+ users.

In the post it said that it was rolling out to all ELIGIBLE 13+ users, which I would assume is depending on what the final criteria for Voice Chat actually is.

In the case that Roblox does add voice chat for all 13+ users, there definitely is going to be a lot of incidents coming out of it.

I know engineers watch these threads.

(it was an inevitability anyway, platforms like Discord are a lot less restrictive over it)

Whilst the verification is a long process for some (excluding the fact that people may not have government-issued IDs) voice chat needs more testing and integration into roblox. It would be better if people who have VC enabled and placed in the same server so more people have mics.

Moderation will be a minor issue since well unless they are going to record absolutely everything 24/7 and keep it on file in case a report comes in there wont is an easy way to prove they said that, even if at all.

VC being disabled in private servers is a bad idea since people will want to chat with friends etc, if it was like the server owner could control if it is enabled or not in the private server panel, it would make more sense.

Also a question:

If you have someone blocked on roblox, who happens to have VC, can you hear them speak or is it automatically muted?
