UIGradient does NOT Work using in ScrollingFrame:

Reproduction Steps

  1. Open the application Roblox Studio;
  2. Create/Select one of your/group’s experiences;
  3. Go to StarterGui, and make a ScreenGui > ScrollingFrame;
  4. In ScrollingFrame, add an UIGradient while setting a random ColorSequence of your preference.

Expected Behavior

I expected the ScrollingFrame would change its effect as-in with the gradient with the different colours as selected, just like inserting in a typical Frame.

Actual Behavior
When inserting and putting random colours inside of the UIGradient property, the result remains the same without any modifications whatsoever. I thought it was an error within my Roblox Studio, but it was not.

Technically not a bug. This has been mentioned since the release of gradients in 2019:

I guess it was just forgotten about?

It says “temporarily excluded”, which means that it could have been released fully after years. If it was stated that excludes entirely these two properties, that would be considered for eternity.

Temporary ≠ Permanent

Returning to the topic to ask if there are any updates as the bug is still around in the UIGradient.Color.ColorSequence and other others beneath the property UIGradient such as UIGradient.Transparency.NumberSequence.

So, we’re in 2023.
It still wasn’t fixed.
That’s really annoying now.

Roblox just forget stuff, add more random stuff that makes no sense instead of actually listening to the community.
Studio became a real pain over the years and especially now with the dang icons change.
Bugs are fixed but, most never are.

@Dogekidd2012 is there a possibility for UIGradient be ever available on ScrollingFrame as well as TextBox?

I’ve noticed that UICorners do not apply to ScrollingFrames either - just something that’s bothered me for a bit now.

That is indeed true… I noticed that months ago and it is quite something odd to see. Maybe I should share this bug soon.

I could have reported it a bit ago, but I haven’t because it’s not that big of a deal to just add it to a frame.

@pyxfluff I have published a topic for this bug and I hope both of these bugs (UIGradient and UICorner) can be fixed…

They don’t apply textboxes either.

It seems that this was intentional from the post by @0xabcdef1234:

Therefore, I will mark my reply here as an answer that I needed.

Furthermore, I am going to analyze if there is any information related to TextBox not working for UIGradient in both DevForum and Creator Document. If not, I may file a bug report.

Thank you, everyone, for also sharing more things about this topic that I would never know with you all! :smile:
