Hi! Thank you for reporting this. Wanted to clarify some behaviors and expectations.
We’ve made a privacy update for UK users that changes how your connections list is displayed on your profile. Now, other users in the UK can no longer see your full friends list on your Profile. They can still see your friend and follower counts, as well as mutual friends. This change is to align with UK privacy requirements.
Will these privacy changes allow users to opt-out at any point in the future? Or is this something that will be permanently enabled for all UK users?
I think it would make more sense if users had the option of choosing whether they display on other people’s friend list, rather than hiding the friend list for everyone in the UK. Some individuals like to keep their friend list public. Although I’m not quite sure about the business logic and exact UK policy behind what has been implemented, perhaps this was necessary.
