Upcoming Ads Roadmap and Changes

The new ads on the homepage are EXTREMELY intrusive. Please give an option for users to remove these, as it lowers the quality of life on the roblox website.

The offending content is shown below.

First off the new ad manager lets you organize your ads with ad sets and campaigns which allows for easier data reading and comparing. You don’t have to make ads just for getting plays, but you can focus on just getting attention, (which e.l.f. up! used so beautifully). Previously the ad manager only gave you 3 categories to change: Age, Gender, and Device. Now they added on Location on top of that. With the In-Experience Portal, you can set an Experience Genre where you want your ads to show as well as the Game-Rating (parental guidance). Instead of just throwing your money at the system, you can now choose the maximum you are willing to pay per PLAY (not just an impression now). They also tell you the targeted audience size (monthly), which helps put a little perspective on things as well as, helping people niche down.

Now I will say that I am kinda disappointed that there is a minimum bid per play (which is .01 credit, about 2.85 robux), because I used to be able to abuse the heck out of console ads and I was paying like .5 robux per play. Other than that though, I think the new ad manager is pretty good.

Sorry for pinging this post but, according to Bloxy News on X/Twitter, Roblox will officially remove User Ads on June 17, 2024. With historical data remaining until July 31, 2024.

And for those who aren’t up-to-date, Roblox planned on Roblox User Ads several months ago, but was later delayed.

I think everyone just got a message on the Roblox website revealing the new deadline for the User Ad removal, yet the Ads Manager documentation still says it’s in beta.

I have a feeling that the rate of advertisements will drop significantly.

Now that we know that the last day for User Ads is June 16th, it looks like our pleas and complaints were yet again left unheard or simply not cared about. So glad creativity is being slowly drained from the platform and replaced with a corporation’s idea of sanitized fun. I love changes that negatively affect both creators and players with no positive benefits to anyone!!!

yep, seems like roblox has gone from “powering imagination” to “powering big corporations and predators”

This is insane!!! They are removing them! By doing this, roblox is yet again removing like 50% of the advertising potential that developers still have. This is HORRIBLE. Ive seen other devs like OSudden who I am friends with also complain about this on this exact post!

This is horrible!!! Roblox is dooming everyone expect for the the top tier games…

I agree honestly it is disappointing to see them removing group ads.

investors are rarely young people who know what the premise of Roblox is. instead, they are usually older gentlemen who view Roblox as another tech platform. due to this, Roblox has to sacrifice some things that make them seem less serious, like these funny user ads. this makes Roblox seem more “sleek and modern”, a phrase that resonates with all tech companies and is familiar to investors.
Roblox isn’t a “metaverse”, even though they think it is

roblox removed user ads but that doesn’t stop people from using the sponsored page

Having to pay a lot of Robux for just 10 ad credit is stupid as hell this makes me almost wish big YouTubers in the roblox community convince people to boycott Roblox to potentially get Roblox to revert some of these changes like what TF2 fans are doing rn which probably won’t work.
