We’re updating Heads!

the innovative product team that roblox hired after the meta craze and still kept even after the downfall of it.
(Notice on how some big companies decided to lay off the meta people but roblox kept them?)

Like that’ll ever happen to Roblox.

I was aware of the faces being offsale, but when I responded to someone about this, my message got flagged as off-topic.

i cannot blame your curiosity, but alas, it shall be a disappointing one, as the response @Roblox is bound to give is a response they’ve given when met with opposition and disargeement, is arguably the worst reply possible. no reply.

roblox, as a business, understandably step away from the helm of leading and being apart of the community and have given that responsibility and support to developers. but now, when the community universally opposes removing classical faces, they double down. they didn’t give the helm to the developers; they left the position entirely, listening to no person or member of their community they said they wish to support.

they observe, haphazardly, and do nothing when met with any qualms universally expressed.

I’m fine with this as long as there is an option to disable it, at least for my own games. Some people may like it, some may not, but all that matters is that it’s not forced upon everyone.

Don’t get me wrong, I think this feature would be great (depending on who you are) but it also can be related to the topic of user privacy and such. But overall, I wouldn’t want it in my game because of authenticity.

I have a few issues with this

If these heads are replacing the old ones instead of being uploaded as new items, R6 avatars are going to effectively lose the ability to change their head at all, because when they load with dynamic heads it just replaces with the default head.

Also, it doesn’t make much sense to me to merge faces and heads into one asset. With how it was before players could use any head shape with any face, but now they will be forced to use the head shape of the face they want (unless variations of the same face are going to be uploaded for each head shape…but that would be a mess)

Think about how this will affect UGC too. If the plan is for UGC creators to be able to make their own faces, they’re going to have to do a bunch of extra work to support more than one head shape, and even then people are going to be disappointed that they can’t use the face with their favorite head.

At the very least, classic faces should NOT be taken offsale. If the goal is to make all heads dynamic, just add a set of generic faceless heads that classic faces can be added to. This change makes a part of avatar customization that has worked well for years clunky and limiting.

It’s a okay change imo, like I think animated faces might fit some games.
I personally likely wouldn’t use it on my avatar much but I could see some games benefit from this.

I would say the animations looks a little off and uncanny as of right now, especially with how stretched out the smile is.
I would personally probably take more inspiration from Lego movies and stop-motions since the face animations look a bit more natural on those plastic characters.

I wouldn’t say it’s a bad update, like I genuinely like and appreciate the idea.
I just kindly ask you to not force it and let people choose if they want to use it or not.

It has potential, but again, should be entirely optional and could use some polishing.

Perfectly fine with these changes except for one.

Why are you putting classic faces offsale?

You constantly try and make it clear that you want to ensure that the Classic Roblox look is honored and whatnot, yet you directly harm it by preventing these items from being purchased.

Stop with forcing horrid changes.

If you would have added this ALONG SIDE Classic faces nobody would be complaining. Instead, you guys decide to force everyone to use these new dynamic faces that not a lot of people really want.

I would be 100% fine with this if we could use both types of heads, but I see no reason to force people to use your new product just because no one wants to use it voluntarily.

Your opinion holds no value given the fact that you used ChatGPT to write the whole thing.

I’m just now scrolling through this update and boy oh boy is there a lot of backlash. It’s basically a riot. It’s not a bad update, but putting classic faces offsale is questionable.

It wasn’t bad until they put classics off sale. They really want to make these heads the new thing, but are pushing it a bit too far. I feel that we are lucky that we can keep our current classic faces and opt out of this change if we want.

I guarantee nobody would have had a problem with this update if they didn’t take the faces offsale in the first place.

many accessories will no longer fit correctly if these changes are forced
there are a few solutions to this:

  • system where accessories can have custom scale and placement on the avatar
  • shapes for the new face heads match the classic ones so there are no inconsistencies
  • allow us to use both types of faces / heads

  1. It is written by ChatGPT, I am 100% confident. I could go into depth the many reasons why its obvious.

  2. The reason it is not valid is because ChatGPT doesn’t understand the full context or effect of this update. It’s just writing “fluff” to make it sound like a reasonable argument.

  3. No of course this response by you is not AI nor was anyone claiming it was.

I don’t really see the logic in trying to take existing faces offsale. For a platform that prides itself on letting its users express themselves with lots of customization options, it’s really counterproductive to just remove options from the players, especially ones that can’t be created by players yet

And as for the facial animation stuff, I don’t think enough people asked for it to justify adding it at the expense of existing customization options.

Please recall this update. These updates are slowly getting rid of what the old Roblox was, and the magic that used to be is fading away.

i doubt it, there’s no evidence to suggest such. They have always done their best to try and maintain backwards compatibility. people are just overly paranoid

This is a cool feature, but i don’t see why the original faces should be taken offsale.
