Why? How will we freely express ourselves if we can’t even choose the classic faces we prefer? This update came out 3 days ago with 1200 replies, is this really a good update Roblox?
bloxy news isn’t with ROBLOX, however they have like BETA features that roblox tests out, from admins, and others from ROBLOX, that update is to roll out, with every bad update must come a good one, you should know that by now
What I could say definitely is that they were expecting some big backlash, after it being shadowed in the #updates:announcements category.
My last reply before I’m going to sleep now.
I didn’t know they got to test beta features, then this would make sense, so, let’s hope we can also get the feedback from some big developers like @badcc
I suspect this is a fan-made video. i wonder where bloxy news got this video from. i hope a roblox staff will explain the details as soon as possible.
I’m pretty sure the reply talking about this was just removed but I’m going to restate it because I noticed this too. I 100% believe this is Roblox trying to kill R6. New Roblox bundles no longer support it, Roblox barely ever fixes any bugs with it, and R6 is becoming noticeably absent from most front page experiences. The end goal of updates like this dynamic head update is for R6 to be so broken and unusable by most players, that they stop using it, and roblox has a reason to deprecate and fully sunset R6 once and for all. think about it: all the changes and solutions they have offered to dynamic heads (by the way, those aren’t coming for a while, given roblox’s past with this type of stuff) would only work on R15 avatars. they haven’t even mentioned in any of their official forum posts about this that this would break R6 completely, because they do not care about R6. They know the change is unpopular. They know it’ll restrict freedom when creating and making avatars and they do not care because the end goal with this update and others Roblox has been doing is to make R6 unusable.
We all do, and in care this gets rolled out we all hope it’s gonna have that toggle ateast
yes bloxy news gets their news from official sources, from beta testers, admins and people like badcc so sometimes they may show misinformation because thats when someone photoshopped an update faking to be an admin, however this as you can see in the image is legit, it is not photoshopped, and seems to be a beta tester
they know if they remove R6, blox fruits, roblox biggest game will crash, most R6 games will crash, so they want to but cannot
Oh okay, so they don’t test it themselves
@straublights but why should they remove R6? Like Roblox actually give me a good reason, not just “mOdErNiZaTiOn”
As to your other point, I’m not sure, like Blox Fruits is very well know and a lot of people play it, and both Roblox and the creator get a lot of money from it, and I don’t think any of the two is willing to give up that money, so, if they remove R6, it’ll probably update to support R15
probably not. there are plenty of tools to help developers migrate R6 animations over to R15. The sun setting up R15 would not kill any games.
they may do that, however that willl be the day they get rid of the classic noobs, so in other words when I can no longer have my blocky avatar is the day R6 will officially be removed
otherwise as long as blocky avatars exist R15 AND R6 will survive
and by this i dont mean they make a new rthro bundle and yall gonna think it is the end, im saying when you unequip your body part for it to become blocky and it stops doing that
It’s an incredibly outdated technology. R6 is coming up on 20 years old. they’ve already hid in the R6 which are away in the build options. A couple years ago. they mass upgraded all old accounts to r15 . I can’t give roblox’s exact reason until they inevitably make the forum post talking about it, but I can’t give you an exact reason.
And also R6 ≠ 1.0. R6 was the only choice for users until 2016.
They will 1000% kill R6 before they touch 1.0. You don’t have to agree with me that they’re planning on killing R6, but they’ll kill R6 first.
But who cares if it’s outdated? Like update it, that’s the not-so-smart thinking Roblox is using right now with R6
Removing R6 will just hurt R6 animators and games relying on R6. Even then. I’m sure R6 animators will just animate R15 just like R6.
Or in this case, they might just do a work-around and make their own R6 rig somehow.
Backwards compartibility is really essential. R6 exists as backwards compartibility aswell, yet frequently used in games. There are own reasons whenever to use R6 or R15.
R6 is frequently used by obby community, because it doesn’t have these intrusive collision boxes. It is also easier to animate.
R15 is more advanced in terms of animating but also feels more natural to handle. It’s used most of the time in showcases or games where realism matters. It also has very simple body scale configs compared to R6 (even tho now we have engine-level scale API)
if this turns out how i imagine, then this seems completely fine and not at all what roblox was saying they would do. definitely a step in the right direction with this change, but the issue of roblox making these drastic changes that harm developers and the community is still present as always and i doubt the pattern stops here, not to mention the lack of transparency with this whole ordeal is unacceptable (same issue as audio privacy). the fact that these all might cost more robux now sucks but at least we get to keep the legacy faces, i guess.
It’s pretty easy, you put 5 normal parts and 1 special mesh and rig it
I feel like this is some revision of history by Roblox. I very clearly remember in their blog post they stated owners of the classic face would receive the animated face at no additional cost. they did not communicate that it also worked vice versa.
