How would it work? Is it automatically on as soon as the client connects or will developers have to enable it in Studio?
Hyperion is their only product so enjoy that I guess lol.
Lets hope the anti-cheat will work. Although I do think Roblox has needed an anti-cheat for a while now due to how large the company is, I am worried about lots of possible fake positives and if Roblox adds an auto ban system to the anti-cheat people could get banned for no reason. All aside I cannot wait to see what is to come from Byfron and hope this reduces lots of exploiters.
So glad that this is finally arriving! My hope is that there will be some more tools for the developer to use like ip banning. Would help a lot due to players being able to create alt accounts within seconds to dodge bans.

But also losing robux from exploiters. Considering if a paid access game has many exploiters, less people will want to play it, meaning less people will pay for it.
Does it do so via IP (which many are shared by lots of players, which in that case would detect other players accounts as alts of another user at times) or by device (which are usually only used by one person)?
I really don’t think Roblox will add some type of IP banning for game developers. Although sure that would be great to stop exploiters creating new accounts the main issue would be data protection very likely. There are many features that Roblox sadly will very likely never be able to add due to data protection laws. I could see Roblox possibly creating some type of method to allow us to IP ban so we don’t ever have to see the IP it might still have issues.
Also another issue with IP banning is that it’s easy to change your IP address and also other people who might wish to use the same device will be unable to ban them.
Also at the end of the day it is not at all hard to use a VPN or just change there IP address completely making IP banning useless. The only real way to ensure hackers don’t make alts is by having a PC ban system implemented so devs can ban PC via there ID.
They could also not only do IP, but also Device MAC. That’d be an extra step the exploiters would have to do and would slow them down a bit more.
There is no real way to combat/prevent this issue as long as the creation of Roblox accounts remain free and as long as VPN services are a thing ( assuming that you use a paid VPN rather than a free one and thus get better cover however I won’t go over that topic), and relying on account age requirements is really low standard and up to the game devs to be honest.
IP bans are also unreliable knowing that Roblox’audience aims at children and flagging IPs/subnets may cause false positives.
Knowing that people who know how to inject an exploit and then execude lua code on it let alone run such instances possibly on their own hardware/pc, I doubt that IP based rules are key.
I think that linking a valid phone number to an account and getting to know whether said user has a phone number or not and whether a linked account with such phone number tries to access a game ( without getting access to such phone number obviously ) could possibly work to identify as an unique person ( assuming that the phone number belongs to you ) but then once again, children make up the vast majority and knowing that them or their parents are unlikely to deal with personal credentials at that age proves that this method is unreliable.
tldr; IP bans = unreliable and should at most be optional only
an automated process of identifying & preventing alts on a free platform is hardly imaginable unless you have an idea
Especially if the IP ban affects tens or hundreds of thousands to millions of users who did nothing wrong.
Some sort of generated device ID would be really nice.
I hope this anti-cheat will be effective at stopping exploiters. But we will have to see after this releases. This would also be good if we could access more ban options for players in our games.

This seems like something people could bypass
Everything is bypassable in theory - but there needs to be a bottleneck to prevent the ease at which people exploit ROBLOX today. I don’t care if something isn’t 100% unbypassable, just that it makes scripting much more difficult for exploiters and easier for game owners to detect.
Not if it gets the user’s IP however it should have that automatic in a plug-in and allow us not to get players IP’s since this most likely would be abused by hackers.

Ah yes, role-playing in Brookhaven is super competitive isn’t it? All jokes aside, I can’t wait for this to come out. I doubt I’ll ever have to make an anti cheat ever again, which is a huge weight off my shoulders!
